I am a big Newman fan. But I am beginning to wonder if the guys career will be his inability to stay on the field. He will probably come back this year. But, that groin injury will be with him throughout the season. Adam Jones will get plenty of playing time. Maybe a good thing..Maybe.

The team just needs to make sure he is healthy in December and January.

Why does everyone want to try to be the 1st to try and predict something.

Newman is hurt. He is not an injury prone player because he gets hurt twice.

Anthony Henry is injury prone. Newman, not so much....

Newman re-aggravated the groin injury in practice this week. I hope he can get on the field soon and be his old self. The Cowboys are right for giving him rest, but we need him.

If he needs to rest for several weeks, then so be it. We need him far more in January then we need him right now. We have enough depth at CB and we should be able to make the playoffs even if he doesn't suit up the whole year (assuming Henry can stay healthy).

I have confidence that AJones will find his groove quickly and play as an upper echelon CB.

I definitely think Newman needs to rest! The beginning of the season isn't as important as the end. I would be happy if he didn't suite up until week 2 or 3. Hopefully he doesn't get thrown into the mix like last season!!

I'm a big Newman fan, but it's getting ridiculous.

Two rookies and a player who sat out a year. Yikes.

He better watch it or he's heading towards the Deion "turf toe" category of never ending injuries. The disturbing thing is that when he first injured the groin they were saying he'd only miss like a week of practice, and it's turned into the entire preseason and game 1 (so far).

This is the nature of this type of injury, unfortunately. It is very irritable and tends to become recurrently injured. It is better to give him an extended period of time off to work on rehab and let it heal properly lest he be constantly reaggravating it.

He really needs the docs/therapists telling him to rest a bit.

I know lots of therapists who believe in being aggressive with early rehab for these sorts of injuries but I am a believer in letting mother nature do her job first and then hitting it with intensive rehab.

It is obvious in retrospect that things were being pushed too much to try and get him ready for the start of the season which is somewhat irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

At this point it's very hard to say TNew isn't injury prone.

The way I'd put it is every football player is injury prone - it is the nature of the profession.

I think people are just worried that this is the second straight year in which TNew has had a soft tissue injury that appears to be lingering. The body's elasticity just tends to decrease as you age. Working out can only do so much against the battle with Father Time.

Groin injuries are a real "pain." You can re-injure yourself real easy. You have to be patient coming back. They linger FOREVER. I've had that injury before, it's more irritating than it is painful....

What if Adam Jones shows he is a better corner than Newman. He would be a most expensive 3rd cornerback.

I don't see that happening, but I could foresee him over shadowing Henry...

If thats the case then Newman needs to just rest for 2-3 weeks

Wish I had your confidence.

Pacman is quick, but small and against big receivers like Plax he's toast IMO.

He's just gonna have to prove me wrong...we'll see.
