First it tells me hes getting better that he is back there,i know he lost yards but at least he has speed and can juke.i like him there.

I do not want Newman returning punts ...... the guy has all the tools to be phenomenal at it .... but I do not trust his hands or his decision making on them.

And I am not talking about just this year ..... every time he has done it, it scares me.

If he's going to do that crap again don't let him back there. It's good to see him close to 100% again.

All that play did was make me squirm in my seat. The only time i want to see Newman on punts is when we have them pinned back.

Personally, I like him back there. I don't want him back there all of the time, but I like the nervousness every once in a while.

I feel bit uneasiness with our #1 CB returning the kick, in fear of injury.

I'm with you. I don't want him back there all the time but I clearly would have him back there in certain situations. I had no issue with Phillips putting Newman back there yesterday.

I love it when he's back there. He's had a lot of big returns the last couple years, some called back on penalties, but big returns nonetheless. I think we wasted a weapon when Parcells refused to play him back there.

But probably the best thing about his being back there yesterday is that it's a sign his foot is getting better. He looked pretty fast chasing Stallworth last week, too, and supposedly he didn't have to take a shot for the first time. So maybe we can see a close-to-100% Newman after the bye.

At that point and time, in that game, it wasn't smart to have him out there, plain and simple. He's playing hurt already and will deal with the knee and foot injuries all season.

He's way too valuable to our defense to risk him on a punt return in a game where we were clearly the better team. It was an unnecessary risk.

Frankly that return was crap.

Parcells would have been in his face about it -- that was a bad play.

BP would also have sat down Barber for a while after he gained and then lost that first down.

I do see that the players are loose and having fun now -- but these little things may be the difference between a win and a loss down the road.

i personally was more surprised that he was returning that particular punt.

if they were going to be using him, why wasn't he back there when we had them punting from their endzone?

One thing about the great runners, occasionally they will do things that will make you pull your hair out, but more times than none, they will make spectacular plays ala "Marion Barber", "Deion Sanders", "Barry Sanders", "Donte' Hall", "Devin Hester" and now our own "Terence Newman".

Personally I could care less what Parcells would have done .... his teams would have lost to the Bills, Giants, and Vikes.

We would be 3-4 if Parcells was still here ..... just my very biased opinion of course.

I don't remember Parcell's going 6-1 here in any 7 game stretch, much less to start a season, so I think I would stick with Wade's approach on this one.

its kinda funny that people are getting on Newman for that punt return. He was giving 110% and trying to take it to the house, instead of giving up on the play. If hester, or some other dynamic player does this, and it doesnt work, then its ok i guess huh?

That was very good kick coverage. I don't think you can question the way one of your playmakers plays the game, when he has proven that it works( see the returns that were called back last year) Its what makes the player who he is. Its like asking T.O to not be as physical, or asking Barber to shy away from contact, or asking julius to run somebody over lol

Very few players even have the speed and suddeness, to reverse field the way he did, and that kind of running often leads to breakdowns on the coverage team, wich leads to touchdowns, but whatever. I can understand not wanting him back there all the time, or even in that game. But in an important playoff game, or even the superbowl(hopefully) I would like to see him back there full time. Put the ball in the hands of your best player when it counts.

I wasn't saying Bill was the answer -- only that plays like that suggest a need for a little more discipline in play.

I've seen three really poor decisions in the last two week, one lost us a first down, one gave us worse field position, and one required a heroic effort to avoid a safety.

That sort of stuff can lead to losses.
