The Cowboys lead the NFC East but slow starts have been the common denominator in their four losses this season. NBC 5 Sports Director Newy Scruggs explains why the final seven games of the regular-season are critical for head coach Jason Garrett's future in Dallas.

Slow starts and late-game confusion sandwiched between the inability or stubbornness to adjust when things are not working. That's one hell of a sandwich we fans have been forced to eat. It's a shame that the richest sports franchise in the world can do no better than this.

It's obvious that Jerry chooses his comfort zone over the competitiveness of this team. The emperor does not want to be challenged, he wants to be able to walk into the locker room, meeting room or football field anytime he feels like it. Jason has probably been given orders not to lock the bathroom stall when taking a crap because Jerry might want to speak to him.

So the emperor chooses spineless coaches and expect the players to not only follow, but succeed. Jerry needs to set aside his ego and acquire the best coaching money can buy, doing anything else just makes no sense.

Enough is enough

Rest assured, the second pundits start openly questioning JGs future in Dallas, we will come out and look like SB contenders....then the talk will subside for a week or two and we will go back to laying eggs

The bar needs to be higher! I'm with him. There is no reason that the Cowboys keep putting themselves in situations where they have no margin for error. They do it in games and in the season as a whole. After 10 years you can't blame every player "for not exectuting" that we have had for a decade. At some point it's coaching.

Aren't they Jerry's Cowboys?

Garrett didn't hire himself. Garrett didn't extend his own contract. Jerry's the one who has deemed Garrett's work satisfactory for a decade.
