Trevon diggs was off the list because he didnt have over 20% forced tight window throws. But he was better in every category they list for anthony brown.

Now imagine that the accessory to murder somehow becomes serviceable Dallas potentially has a very dynamic and dominating defense.

So Brown is a better CB than Diggs?
Next Gen Stats just lost all credibility in my eyes...
Well in their defense they don’t say he’s a better corner just that he has better coverage skills. Diggs just isn’t going to grade out well based on the type or coverage he does. Nobody cares if he’s getting 10 picks though.

Coverage skills seems to be more important. Looking at Deion Sanders' career, the highest single season # of INTs he got was 7 when he was with the Falcons. The most INTs in a season he got playing for the Cowboys was 5. That is less than half that Diggs got for us last season. The difference why Deion was so good was his coverage skills. Deion could shut down half of the DB backfield while helping shut down an opposing team's passing game, thus why Deion was known for being among the best shutdown CBs in the NFL. Diggs ended up being the worst last year in terms of giving up passing yards. Not good.

They are talking strictly cover skills, not overall DB play. Brown is certainly the more consistent cover guy, diggs more so the big play gambler. I will say though that diggs got much better as a cover corner as the year went on. If he takes the next step in the category he will truly move to elite cb status

PFF had Terrell, Atlanta cornerback as first team All-Pro and rated him as a better 25 and under prospect then Diggs. These next generation stats have had me questioning them since they rated Byron Jones as one of the best cornerbacks in the game.

Diggs cover skills are solid. He could easily play like Byron but then he would not have those interceptions. Diggs baits quarterbacks to throw the football his way. When he decides to shut a wideout down you get the Tampa game vs Evans.I look at the QBR stats of quarterbacks against Diggs and they are some of the lowest in the league. Diggs also gave up lots of yards at the end of blowouts. Dak gets no credit for garbage time yards so why is Diggs being punished for it. :omg::laugh: The only truly bad game he had was against Denver.

Very true. Diggs can shut down a WR when he wants to, but his INTs take a hit. If he can keep building and find a way to make both parts of his game work at the same time, he will be lights out.

Diggs gave up the most yards in the NFL. (Might have been 2nd most, don't remember.)

At present, Brown is a better player than Diggs. Shouldn't be for long, but right now he is.

They should consider the complete package

Like others stated the article used specific areas under coverage for its calculations. Diggs play style will not be suited for those parameters. I mean the dude gave up the most passing yards.

Brown is the more consistent coverage CB. Diggs imo is two fold. He will either shutdown the top WR or gamble and get burned.

He is going to be an interesting case come second deal time.

Especially if Joseph and/or Wright can establish themselves as legit starters.

Diggs is a fan favorite and of course we would want to keep him, but can't pay everyone big money. Between Dak and what Parsons is gonna get, and a few others.....Diggs is going to be a tough call. But that's for then. For now we got him.
