With Doug Free already gone (he was working out on the side all week, so that’s a positive) and Ron Leary a game time decision, that poses a big change. Not saying Jeremy Parnell and Mackenzy Bernadeau aren’t capable of performing up to the coveted Cowboys offensive line status, but the lineup is change. And change alone within a unit can be disruptive and destructive. Again, not because Parnell and Bernadeau aren’t up to par. But they haven’t grinded and gelled for eight weeks of the season.
But one non-starter who has gelled all season long is second-string quarterback Brandon Weeden. With Tony Romo missing Wednesday practices on a regular basis, Weeden gets more snaps than any backup qb in the league. I’ve talked to a large handful of people around here at Valley Ranch, including players, and 100% of the time, the response regarding Weeden was an impressed one. Weeden gave the Cowboys a reason to let out the breath they’ve been holding all season long. And for the love of all things good, don’t hold it again, you may be surprised how much you see Weeden playing in the next two weeks. And you may be surprised at how impressed you are by him. He is more than ready – you heard/read it here.

It would be interesting to see what Weeden can do for a complete game.

I agree. I actually have faith in Weeden and I have faith in the guys around him to do their jobs and in doing that to make his job a bit more easy. I would rather have Romo in their but if he can't go then Brandon will have to step up and as he said keep the train on the track.

That, I agree with. It'd be great to see him play really well and to know what we've got given Romo's physical limitations this season. I'm just not so anxious to see that that I'm willing to bench Romo if he can go.

I'm not anxious to see a backup play and important game, but it would be interesting to see if he is a legit NFL QB. It's difficult to know much going by what happened in Cleveland.

Weeden will only play if Romo allows it. He is one stubborn man.

I agree, some of his stubbornness and coaches' cost us the skins game, of course offense as a whole is responsible , incl Witten , Bryant ,Murray .

It's all good, you don't have to make that decision, as it turns out, hopefully Weeden can be a better option than a gimpy and vulnerable Romo. That's all we are talking about at this juncture.

it will take some time for the receivers to get used to the velocity of his throws on short passes..

that's why dez missed that second one.

terrance williams and dez will flourish under weeden for sure on the deep ball.

we just need to keep brandon upright..this o-line is about as dominant run blocking line you will ever see.

watching replays of them shoving people around like rag dolls....getting to the second level is just fun as hell to watch.

pass blocking is not as good....or is it?

a lot of the time i see them giving romo plenty of time and he does not pull the trigger.

i feel weeden will pull that trigger.

Does he have a strong arm? Couldn't tell much in preseason and I didn't follow him in Cleveland.

he's a baseball pitcher by nature who can throw in the 90's.

drafted by the yankees in 2002

I what i saw in preseason, Weeden does give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. If hes better than a less than 100% Romo, i hope he plays.

Dez should know how to catch passes from Weeden since they were teammates in college.

Dez should have caught that slant for a TD. IMO, Irvin would have caught that ball even if it was Brett Farve throwing it from 1 yard away.
