It's never to early to talk about the draft, especially when we have areas of weakness that free agency could not fully solve. The 1-year signing of Sensabaugh and Elam at Safety indicates a stop-gap, band-aid solution. Newman continues to get older and is already injured for to begin the season.

Next year's draft focus should be to replenish the secondary with talented youth. Here are my hopefuls that I will be keeping an eye on throughout the NCAA year:

http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Alabama_logo.gifRobert Lester*, S, Alabama
Height: 6-2. Weight: 210.
Projected 40 Time: 4.51.
Projected Round (2012): 1-2.
5/30/11: A second-team All-SEC member, Robert Lester picked off a whopping eight passes in his first year as a starter. He's currently the favorite to be the first safety off the board in the 2012 NFL Draft, should he declare.

http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/USC_logo.gifT.J. McDonald*, S, USC
Height: 6-2. Weight: 205.
Projected 40 Time: 4.49.
Projected Round (2012): 2.
5/30/11: Had three interceptions and four passes broken up as a sophomore, earning a spot on the All-Pac-10 Second Team.

http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Oregon_logo.gifCliff Harris*, CB/PR, Oregon
Height: 5-11. Weight: 180.
Projected 40 Time: 4.43.
Projected Round (2012): Top 25 Pick.
5/29/11: An AP All-America Second Team member, Cliff Harris had six interceptions and four punt returns for a touchdown as a sophomore.

http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Virginia_logo.gifChase Minnifield, CB, Virginia
Height: 6-0. Weight: 185.
Projected 40 Time: 4.46.
Projected Round (2012): 1-2.
5/29/11: Chase Minnifield has NFL bloodlines; his father Frank was a Pro Bowler with the Browns in the 80s and early 90s. Chase picked off six passes in 2010, leading Virginia's secondary in Dowling's absence.

http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/LSU_logo.gifMorris Claiborne*, CB, LSU
Height: 6-0. Weight: 178.
Projected 40 Time: 4.42.
Projected Round (2012): 1-2.
5/29/11: Patrick Peterson wasn't the only talented corner on LSU's defense last season. Morris Claiborne was an All-SEC second-teamer, thanks to 11 passes broken up and five interceptions.

Yeaah, I really prefer my corners to being first-team conference players and have sub 4.4 speed. These guys are dogs. :laugh2:

I predict lousy LBs in round 3 and 5 ... "which we drafted for special teams"

a "Blocking TE" ... gotta have plenty of those on the roster ... right Jerry?

We hit on one Lb in the 4th round named Bradie James

Cliff Harris is an idiot that can't keep himself out of trouble. I would pass on him.

You mean with Witten, Bennett, and John Phillips already on the roster? :laugh2:

Sure, lets draft another one!

Those are 40 projections, not the actual times, and the college football season hasn't been played yet, so many of these players probably will end up with 1st team conference honors.

Next year?? next year?? Thats a priority now and always was.

How do you have a draft board without Jayron Hosley from Virginia Tech?

If he has a season anywhere close to the one he just had, he'll be the 1st CB off the board.

Also: overreact much!?

Look for an injured LB in the second round.

thats pretty funny but Lee is looking good so far and going to be good and if we'll see on Carter but they seem to like him an awful lot.

I'm certainly on board with this idea... Dallas needs to DRAFT READY TO PLAY guys in rounds 1 through 3!!!!!

I wouldn't call this an overreaction actually... It's called reality of the situation that is the Dallas Cowboys defense.

Because I don't expect us to be drafting early in the first round. Guys like Hosley and Kirkpatrick will most likely be gone in the top 10 picks and I don't think we will have a chance. I think we will draft somewhere between 20-32, So I selected guys more in our region.

Was the overreact comment for me or someone else? If it was for me, I don't think it is overreaction to keep an eye on upcoming talent. It's called being prepared and realistic about players that we can get and where we are as an organization.
