OKay, I'm pretty happy overall with this year's draft.

I have upped my grade to a B, and it's not even over yet.

However, I can't be the only one shocked that we didn't address the OL, and I don't consider it addressing the position regardless of what we do in rounds 6-7...we don't need another Pettitti, no offense to his fans.

I'm sure the thinking is this: With Adams and Fabini, even if neither plays great (adams returning to injury and fabini never a good run blocker), we're still immediately better in pass protection on both corners than we were with Tucker/Pettitti.

We can't be any worse at Center and RG, hopefully a little better due to experience and better health.

LG is the position where we will probably be a little worse, but it won't be a disaster.

So I'm sure Parcells and JJ think we're better at OL this season, and we are...however, I have no doubt about the fact that our OL is still by far the weakest position on our football team, and we have almost no depth or young players on the rise in the wings to take over.

At some point, and I hope it will be next year, we have got to draft OL early and often and well in order to build a strong OL that will have some youthful leaders and mainstays, guys who can possibly develop into top players in the trenches...yes, I know Johnson, Gurode, and Pettitti are young, but I don't put them into the category of linemen I want to see starting for us in future years. Kozier is a wait and see guy.

Good Draft...if they all work out and are better than their press clippings, GREAT DRAFT...but this team is still seriously thin at OL.

Rome wasn't built in a day, but the OL must be retooled.

What kills me is we've been trying to rebuild this Roman OL since 1999.

Other than a marginal Center, we've done squat with ... wasted picks on Gurode, Jacobs, Peterman. Overpaying LA vastly.

Have we lost our touch on the OL? Flo, LA, Erik Williams ... were all 2nd rounders and lower. All were tops in their game.

Why can't we find that magic again???

Are we so shell shocked that we gave up trying this year???

I think we just didn't see value where we picked, and we lost some guys we were targeting. For instance a guy I heard us linked to a lot was Colledge, who went a couple picks before us in the 2nd.

Sometimes the draft falls right for you, as it did last year. THis year I just don't think it fell the way we hoped, so we grabbed what value we could.

Luck plays a huge part in this.

whew...we finally solved our OL problems...we drafted the twin brother of a highly drafted OT, both out of Webber State...don't let it worry you that out of 73 OT's and 69 Og's in the draft report, this kid, Pat McQuistan, wasn't even listed....lol.

The WR position should be much improved next year (I mean it can't possibly be worse than it was this year).

WR in the 1st in '07.

Kinda makes you wonder why we used a draft pick on him... Unless they thought they couldn't sign him as a UDFA after the draft. I would have much rather drafted Matua, Wright, or Baskett. Wright got picked, what about the other two? If not, guess we still could sign em.

Matua was selected...I think he would have been an excellent pick...and he has experience at C as well...but I think BP wasn't even considering a guy from USC after Rogers...that would be stupid, but I guess you couldn't blame him if true.

Next year we better go OL in the first round or else!!! Sorry just practicing.

Any other colleges playing football this year or just the Texas schools?? :)

Hey man, everyone knows TEX produces the BEST players at EVERY STEENKING position. The rest of the country can suck it :) .

Purely speculation on some, but a few observations:
I think Justin Warren will be a 4th or 5th rounder next year. Bullitt, I don't think he gets drafted. I don't Hicks won't last to the 3rd. Blalock is a stud, if we get him we'll be lucky. Also, you love the Texas boys it seems.
