NFC East Beast or Least? Last couple of years many here and in the media have referred to the NFC East as the NFC Least. Right now NFC East has more wins (16) than any division in football and not looking as weak as some have suggested.

Fair enough, where would you rank the East?

Probably third behind the NFC West, the AFC West (Chargers, Broncos and a surging Chiefs team). The strong teams in the NFC East are the Cowboys and the Eagles. I think the Giants and Commanders are out of the playoff race, while the Seahawks, 49ers and Cardinals are still in contention along with the Chargers, Broncos and Chiefs. That's why I put those divisions above ours.

I don't know, but the NFC South is easily the worst division in the NFL this year.

AFC South has been and still is the worst division in football.

I would rank the divisions right now:
NFC West
AFC West
NFC East
AFC North
NFC North
NFC South
AFC East
AFC South

To be honest I don't think any division is playing great football right now. I think some teams are starting to peak or at least get better every week like the Packers, Cowboys and Bronco's but there's no great team out there right now and no great division. Its still early though. This may change in the next month. But teams best football has yet to be played yet.

Hopefully as the season finishes out, the NFC East is back to being the NFC least with only one team making the playoffs. It could be called the NFC Worst Division in the World as long as the Cowboys win it.

I agree. It's all fluid now anyway. My assessment today might be rendered silly in a few weeks. It's like trying to predict the best teams with just two games played. Simply discussion fodder. Nothing more.

I always thought, though I could be wrong, that the "NFC Beast" was given its name partly because of the smash-mouth brand of football that made the division so dominant in the early to mid-nineties, when the Super Bowl winner seemed to always come out of the division. If that's part of what's intended to be connoted by "NFC Beast", I don't think this year's version of the division qualifies. The 'Boys play a smash-mouth brand for sure. I would say the Giants do too. The Eagles are a finesse team. Washington is arguably also a finesse team.

Yes. It came from the 90s when the Cowboys (the Great Wall of Dallas) succeeded the Giants (Burt Oates, Jumbo Elliott and company) who would succeed the Commanders (the Hogs). And even Philly, though they never went to the Super Bowl with that crew, were nasty in their own right. That was when this division was rich with talented teams. If you made it through that division, you were basically Super Bowl bound.

If I recall correctly, I think I seen somewhere that our division had the 2nd most wins in the NFL.

I think the NFC East and West are well balanced.

The NFC East is 16-11
The NFC West is 14-11

That being said, I think Seattle is better than New York obviously, but Dallas and Philly are probably better than Arizona who is probably better than San Francisco. Though it is worth noting that the 49ers are 2-0 against the NFC East so far.

Honestly the NFC North isn't a slouch either.

The NFC is a tough conference right now.

Meh. I think it's there for the taking. Outside of the Cowboys, the three teams that have looked the best so far -- Denver, San Diego and Indianapolis (probably in that order) -- all play in the AFC.

I think those are three of the hardest teams, but what I meant is the AFC is top heavy, whereas the NFC is littered with good teams that can beat you week in and week out.
