Dallas Cowboys – at first glance it looks like Dallas dropped the ball a bit. Unable or unwilling to trade back a few spots (Jerry Jones feverously working the phone in war room) and didn’t produce a trade but Dallas went with a need pick and took Tyron Smith. Now let’s be realistic about Smith. In a normal draft with one-two stud LTs, Smith would have been a mid first round pick. Smith has the potential to play well but there is a big unknown as to his ability to move to the left side and anchor Romo’s blind side. He has the wingspan of a 747 and is athletic but needs to maintain his weight over 300 lbs and show he can play in more space on the left side. On paper Smith can be upgrade over Doug Free (who will move back to his natural position of RT). Round two is where things start to get interesting.

Yeah, most sites I've seen have the Giants drafted ahead of Dallas. I grade a draft on players selected, not on how many holes are left. By that logic Dallas screwed up by taking a LT because they didn't fix the secondary.

Well, I disagree with that assessment so I didn't read any further.

I don't understand the preoccupation of moving Smith to LT. Unless Free can't be signed or his play deteriorates then leave Free where he is.

I think he went a little high with the Commanders grade.

They got their first three guys in Goose's Top 100, all were taken about where Goose had them rated. Solid picks. Helu didn't make the Top 100, but he certainly could have been in the next 32 spots. Kiper had him as a 4th round pick. There were higher rated rbs available and I don't really see any "special" qualities though he is a one cut back (with straight line speed) and that fits Shanny's system. The rest of their picks are mostly blah imo with Niles Paul, Aldrick Robinson and Chris Neild the standouts. I would give them a C.

Giants and Cowboys both got their 4 top picks out of Goose's Top 100. The value's are fairly similar also with the biggest difference in the second round where the Giants took Marvin Austin at 52 when Goose had him projected in the first round 26 while the Cowboys took Bruce Carter at 40 when Goose had him at 65.(25 picks early) So Giants have better value there according to Goose, but Carter is a guy that would have been higher if not for the knee.(which has good reports) I also think Austin is just as much a gamble after not playing last season and might have been over valued by Goose which is why he ended up at 52. Cowboys tended to get better value with the late picks imo with Thomas, Harris, and Chapas as standouts and an interesting guy in Nagy who lost his chance at a starting spot on the best OL in the country because of a moped accident. Goose has even reported that the Cowboys had one of the best 3rd day of the draft. Giants standouts being Jones and Sash. So I would give them both a B but could understand the Giants getting the better grade because of the 2nd round.
Cowboys B
Giants B

Eagles only got their first two picks out of Goose's Top 100. Watkins was taken slightly higher than he ranked on Goose's list (5 spots)But they got the best G in the draft with the pick.(over aged player being his biggest knock) Jaiquan Jarrett was their 2nd round pick and he was taken a round earlier than he was rated in Goose's Top 100.(54/92) Curtis Marsh didn't make Goose's Top 100, but was considered a 3rd round prospect by Kiper. Casey Matthews seem to be taken a round too high. Alex Henery was the best K in the draft looks to be an automatic 3 kind of guy. The rest is kind of mixed with Lewis, Kelce and Havili the standouts. C-

You think the Giants did worse than we did? Really?

We were not as high on Prince as many. We think he will be serviceable CB and nothing more. Marvin Austin has character risk.

Simply put we think the Big three of Dallas: Tyron Smith, Bruce Carter and DeMarco Murray will outperform the Giants: Prince Amukamara, Marvin Austin and Jerrel Jernigan at pro level.

Hmm, who is "we"? I noticed that in the first round draft grades, we got a C+ and the Giants got an A because they said Prince was a top-10 talent.
