actually, it had us keeping all of our main playerS(including arrington)... the only people that we would loose would be someone like ramsey.

we end up saving 15 million alone by guarenteed before they are due. without cutting/trading/ect anyone, we become only 3 million over the cap. so, with some proper cuts, we will have enough cap to sign some key FA's...

I just read that article and it sounds like a best case scenario just to get under the cap with no additional space. Sounds like a lot of people have to be willing to agree to renegotiate and thats not a given.

Agreed I don't know how the Skins can sign any FA as it stands right now

im a cowboy fan but those Commanders are a wideout away from being in the superbowl....If they get T.O.?????????? They got a real good defense

You've gotta be kidding. Brunell was TERRIBLE down the stretch. They are gonna be hurting for a QB....

many people keep saying that we will be in cap hell, but, there are many ways that we can get around the cap. It has been posted in many articles about how the skins can get under the cap. It has even been showed that the skins could get 10 mil under the cap.

i can post the article, but i doubt you will read it anyways...

Nope, we probably wouldn't.

skin fans need to ask themselves why no other teams in the league try the Cap funs and games the skins do? The NFL is a LEAGUE of copy cats. If one team is successful at something several more try it and then it becomes the norm. So why is it that NO ONE else goes to the lengths the skins do?
And if some moronic skin troll tries to claim that Danny BOy is that much smarter then everyone else...

Nah, he's clearly not smarter than everyone else. He IS richer, and more willing to spend his money. That enables him to work things differently, such as guaranteeing sizeable roster bonuses, which on paper cause cap figures to balloon in a certain year, but in reality can be then pro-rated over the remainder of a contract, creating needed cap space.

You guys have been extremely fortunate with injuries this year untill the very end.

Well, that's not exactly true. Our WR corps was decimated all year long save Moss. Each of our top three DTs missed significant playing time. Our secondary was a revolving door all year long. Injuries didn't kill us (like they did the Eagles), but we certainly weren't 'extremely fortunate' in that department either.

The Commanders do have some concerns, to be sure. The QB spot may be up in the air. Depth at OL and WR need to be addressed, and we could really use a pass rushing DE. Really though, what makes me optimistic about the Commanders is not in the details. It's that we will have our coaching staff in place for a third straight year. We've got continuity. We're developing a culture of winning that has proven to be successful in the past and now again in the present. We may lose again a player or two like Smoot and Pierce but the team will be fine. The attitude is there. This team knows how to win again.

I'd hate to be a pre-season 'expert' trying to sort out the NFC East this next year. Every single team can make a case for winning the division, and even more. It's anyone's title next year as far as I can tell.

How marvelous. :)

So at this point in time the team would be looking at a 2006 cap figure of around $113.2m based on 46 players and the dead cap inherited from 2005 compared to an anticipated NFL cap figure of around $95m.

bahhhh

from your own article

lets do some math shall we.....113.2-95 puts you at 18.2 million over the cap yea when we came out of sukperbowl dynasty years and were in cap hell we were 10 or so over haha try getting out of 18.2 million. The Commanders will only sign their rookies due to the rookie clause and will pay a hansome luxery tax for being so far over the cap.

If the contractual bonuses are guaranteed which they usually aren't because clubs dont' wan't to be locked into paying players the bonuses if they are cut later on.

so say they guarantee Brunell's bonuses for he get payed all the bonus money he was promised when he signed that lucrative contract two years ago. Now add 5 mill per year (bonus) to Brunells roughly 6 million per year contract money and u are locked into paying the mand 11 million next year then 13 millin the next and even if he is cut (yes your starting qb) you are still locked into paying him his 5 mill guaranteed bonus money.

props sean, danny boy finally made the DEADskins truly DEAD

The Skins will find a way out of cap problems. Somehow they always do. They continue to push it off to next year .. next year .. next year, and somehow next year never gets here.

Some of your friends don't seem to understand that. Every year since 2000 people have been yapping about how that year is finally the year the cap catches up to us.
It would be annoying if it wasn't so funny. You all have no clue.

If we have another Coles type of situation with any of our high paid players, then that'd make things more difficult, but that's just not going to happen (the Arrington situation could easily be handeled as shown in one of the articles posted yesterday).

Us being in cap trouble is more wishful thinking than anything.
