So the Giants have the Panthers and then the Vikings left on their schedule.

So what happens if the Giants lose both of those games to be 11-5 and Dallas wins out to be 11-5?

New York has already clinched the division and Dallas will guarantee itself a playoff berth by winning out.

They've already clinched the division. It doesn't matter at this point except for home field purposes for the Giants.

The Giants have the common opponent tiebreaker since they beat the Steelers, Rams, and Cardinals, all of whom we lost to.

no, they win on the division record 5-1 to our 4-2 (if we win in Philadelphia)

Their division record is 4-2 since they lost to Philly last week and us this week, but yeah, they've clinched somehow.

If the Giants lose out and we win out then we have the same overall, division and conf record. Weird.

This is an EXCELLENT source of info for determining how teams qualify for the playoffs: http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.
Two Clubs

  1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
  4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  5. Strength of victory.
  6. Strength of schedule.
  7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  9. Best net points in common games.
  10. Best net points in all games.
  11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
  12. Coin toss

If we win out and they lose out we will both be 8-4 in conference and 4-2 in the division, however they are 10-2 against common opponents, and the best we can do is 8-4, so NY gets the tiebreaker.

Maybe this would be good for the Cowboys, why? because if they so happen to make the playoffs, they won't take no week vacation. Last three years, wild card teams have been winning superbowls.

its simple...

St Louis

NFC East played the AFC North AND NFC west

Giants swept NFC West and we lost to the rams. We both lost 1 of the AFC North Games.

They play Minn and Car, while we play GB and TB

If we would have beat the rams, we would be 1 game behind with 2 to play and the conference record is next. If they would lse at Car and we won out, we would have been div champions

Looking at the playoff scenario dealie on Yahoo, what scares me is that if us and Philly both win the games we're supposed to (we beat the Ravens and they beat the Commanders), the matchup in the last game of the season will be for a playoff spot. Winner is in and loser is out.

That's scary. That's going to be a HUGE game.
