Wow, looks like the eagles have the early lead.

23 points a game is good !

2 more points per game and you might have won a superbowl...then you would have had 25 points, when it counts.

24-21 wasn't it.

But, you are headed in the right direction, I must say.

When you're old enough to remember the season where the Giants went 6-0 in the preseason and then 2-12 in the regular season, you do know they're worthless.

Philly can score a bit even without TO.

It would be nice to know the numbers off the first liners.

Early lead?!? Actually, I was going to say the same for the Cowboys (3-1 Pre-season stats -- looks like the Giants are the only team you really have to worry about).

Indeed, nice start!

dwmyers,

You don't have to be old to know that these numbers are not meant to to imply outcomes in the regular seasons. There are plenty of situations mid-regular season that change for the better or worse.

I get your point ...oldtimer;)

I would be interested to see the points allowed stats for the East in preseason. I would venture a guess that Dallas came out on top on the other side of the ball.

the vaunted philly defense allowed 106? yep. preseason stats sure are meaningful.okay, let's light this candle!

No, I hear your point TTWB! But surely even you realize that there are many variables that go into these stats. For example ...when the Eagles played the Jets, they allowed 37 of those 106 allowed points. But what the stats don't reflect is that (with the exception of one defensive player) the Eagles played their 2nd and 3rd string defensive and offensive team for one -and a half quarters against the Jets 1st team.

So make sure you don't burn that candle from both ends.

I think it would be more meaningful to compare stats on just 1st 2 qtrs of each pre-season games.

Yep. I'd add ...of the 1st and 2nd games only. Most teams will start filtering out their roster from the rookies during those last two games.

If anybody had the time, it would be interesting to do it this way:
Game 1: 1st qtr
Game 2: 1st & 2nd qtr
Game 3: 1st, 2nd, & 3rd qtr
Game 4: 1st qtr

The starters play more and more with each game, til the last game, when they play very little or not at all.

Why don't you add points allowed while your at it. This is even more telling.

Dallas 52

Giants 58

Skins 88

Eagles 106

Agree. Could also consider (1st team depicted by BOLD Print) ...

Games

#1 - First Quarter; Second Quarter through fourth Quarter

#2 - First Quarter; Second Quarter through fourth Quarter

#3 - First Quarter through fourth Quarter

#4 - First Quarter through fourth Quarter (reserved for rookies and FA
trying to survive the cut)

I agree that most of starters are gone by then but it does show to the lack of depth that the Philly D has since the 2nd and 3rd stringers from both teams are in by then. Lack of depth=more points scored against!!
