Finally I have something positive to say so bookmark this thread. : The last 2 weeks has been the best I've felt about the Cowboys in a long time EXCEPT for our short yardage offense and Marion Barber. We have to correct our short yardage offense or it will come back to bite us in the butt. I've always said that if Romo could ever play in Dec the way he's played in Nov the skies the limit for this team. He's played better this Dec than any Nov he's had. He played as good this Dec as I've ever seen him play at anytime during his career. He's protecting the football, making good decisions and making plays. He's pocket awareness has been as good as ever. He's not losing site of defenders and is keeping plays alive. His game has been completely under control. He's thrown 7 TD's and only has one turnover this month. It "appears" he's turned the corner and is primed to get this team over the hump. Another real positive sign is our defense has stepped up. Spencer is becoming a player and Jenkins is turning into a top notch playmaking corner. For the first time since the Cowboys won their last SB everything seems to be coming together at just the right time. It's been Romo's poor play in past Decembers coupled with our defensive breakdowns that has caused our late season meltdowns.
To lose the first couple of games this month and be able to bounce back with 2 straight wins and put ourselves in a position to win the East is a very positive sign the Cowboys are finally coming together at the perfect time to make a run. Getting to the SB is all about timing and playing your best football when the playoffs are approaching. It doesn't matter how you played 2 months ago it's how you're playing NOW that determines your fate in post season. This team "appears" to be peaking. With the Saints and Vikings coming down and the Cowboys moving up the NFC is wide open. If the Cowboys win on Sunday they'll have beaten 2 of the best teams in the NFC in a 3 week span and will clearly be the hottest team entering the playoffs in the conference. If this Cowboys team is for real they'll win Sunday. No way do the Cowboys lose to Philly at home in a game that means the division title especially after the beating they gave us in the season finale last year that sent us home licking our wounds if the Cowboys are legitimate contenders. This game will tell us "officially" whether Romo and the Cowboys have turned the corner. If they win Sunday they have a real chance to go far but if they lay an egg I see another one and out in the playoffs. We're down to gut check time!
