Finally I have something positive to say so bookmark this thread. :p: The last 2 weeks has been the best I've felt about the Cowboys in a long time EXCEPT for our short yardage offense and Marion Barber. We have to correct our short yardage offense or it will come back to bite us in the butt. I've always said that if Romo could ever play in Dec the way he's played in Nov the skies the limit for this team. He's played better this Dec than any Nov he's had. He played as good this Dec as I've ever seen him play at anytime during his career. He's protecting the football, making good decisions and making plays. He's pocket awareness has been as good as ever. He's not losing site of defenders and is keeping plays alive. His game has been completely under control. He's thrown 7 TD's and only has one turnover this month. It "appears" he's turned the corner and is primed to get this team over the hump. Another real positive sign is our defense has stepped up. Spencer is becoming a player and Jenkins is turning into a top notch playmaking corner. For the first time since the Cowboys won their last SB everything seems to be coming together at just the right time. It's been Romo's poor play in past Decembers coupled with our defensive breakdowns that has caused our late season meltdowns.

To lose the first couple of games this month and be able to bounce back with 2 straight wins and put ourselves in a position to win the East is a very positive sign the Cowboys are finally coming together at the perfect time to make a run. Getting to the SB is all about timing and playing your best football when the playoffs are approaching. It doesn't matter how you played 2 months ago it's how you're playing NOW that determines your fate in post season. This team "appears" to be peaking. With the Saints and Vikings coming down and the Cowboys moving up the NFC is wide open. If the Cowboys win on Sunday they'll have beaten 2 of the best teams in the NFC in a 3 week span and will clearly be the hottest team entering the playoffs in the conference. If this Cowboys team is for real they'll win Sunday. No way do the Cowboys lose to Philly at home in a game that means the division title especially after the beating they gave us in the season finale last year that sent us home licking our wounds if the Cowboys are legitimate contenders. This game will tell us "officially" whether Romo and the Cowboys have turned the corner. If they win Sunday they have a real chance to go far but if they lay an egg I see another one and out in the playoffs. We're down to gut check time!

Good post. Glad to see a positive thread from you. I would just add that in prior years, it hasn't been just Romo and the defense that has played worse in Dec. It's been the whole offense. Remember, we win that playoff game against the Giants if the receivers just catch the balls that hit them right in the hands, even though the special teams and the defense stunk.

There's a BUNCH of fans on here that would be surprised if we didn't make the playoffs they're called homers! This time of year is always a rude awakening for them.

and what did you call yourself a realist?

I never said they wouldn't make the playoffs did I? :toast: :p: I am a realist that's why I made that comment. LOL If they don't win on Sunday they'll go one and out in the playoffs. Remember that quote! If the Cowboys can't beat Philly at home with the division title at stake this team simply doesn't have the character to win in the playoffs. I'm just keeping it real! :shades:

Oh yes you did, only us, what was that "homers" I think it was still felt this team could get it together.

I think a realist knows the season is 16 weeks long and over the course of a season there will be highs and lows. Minn and NO are feeling some lows right now, so it happens to most teams. But hey that is just my opinion just an old homer opinion. :laugh2:

You won't find a post where I said the Cowboys "won't" make the playoffs. I said don't be surprised if they don't and I made that comment right after we lost to the Chargers. It wasn't looking real good for the Cowboys coming off 2 straight losses with the undefeated Saints coming up. I said the only ones who "would" be surprised if the Cowboys don't make the playoffs are the homers. By the way you weren't exactly feeling confident the team would make the playoffs either and that was after they beat the Saints. You don't sound like a homer. :p:

Right now my only concern is the Commanders game. When the time comes where the league puts the x next to the Cowboys name indicating a playoff spot has been clinched I will then think of the possibilities.

the cowboys are not the hottest team... they have only won two in a row after losing two in a row. The eagles are definitely the hottest team right now

how exactly are we hotter than GB? 6-1 in the last 7, close game in Pit.

how exactly are we hotter than Philly? 6-1 in the last 7, only loss was on the road to SD

In those 7 we are 4-3. Yes, we beat the Saints, but had we been "hot" like the other teams, we'd have a bye at this point.

agreed... i wouldn't even consider us a hot team. Two wins in a row is not that impressive, especially since one was against the skins. And the bucs just beat the saints.

the Saints win was impressive and inspired. But that team needed to show against NYG and SD.

GB got beat 2 weeks ago by a struggling Steelers team so that slowed them down a bit. I said the Cowboys "may" be the hottest team and went on to say if they beat Philly Sunday they will be the hottest team entering the playoffs in the NFC. Would you not agree? I think winning 3 straight including wins over NO and Philly would clearly make the Cowboys the hottest team in the NFC.

Going to NO and being the first team to knock the Saints off was impressive. That win knocked alot of steam out of them that's why they weren't able to rebound against TB. If the Cowboys win Sunday they'll be the hottest team entering the playoffs in the NFC.

GB has one loss in the 2nd half -- and that was to the defending superbowl champs in their house.

We however have lost to GB, NY, and SD. NY is not even in the playoff hunt.

You can't say we are hot until we actually are.

This Steelers team is obviously not nearly as good as last years Steelers team. Up until 2 weeks ago they had lost 5 straight games including one to the hapless Raiders and Browns. The Cowboys lost to GB but that was several weeks ago. The Cowboys were in position to win both the NY and San Diego games. You have to look at the "present" and "right now" the Cowboys have won 2 in a row and are playing good. In the AFC so are the Steelers "right now". Things change from week to week in the NFL. This has been a crazy year. One minute the Saints looked unbeatable destroying the Pats on Monday night and only a few weeks later they're losing to a struggling Cowboys team and a pathetic TB team in back to back weeks. It's all about peaking at the right time and the Cowboys appear to be peaking. We'll find out on Sunday if the past 2 weeks have been a mirage.

I'm a homer but i'll believe it when i see it from the Boys. Love the way they are playing the last 2 weeks but i need to see more. But i do agree, if they beat the iggles they will be the hottest team in the NFC.

And i "MAY" be the most interesting man in the world, but SB may have something to say about that.

I don't know why anyone would even attempt to dispute this statement.
