The 5th of the 8 part series. Do you think these teams are climbing, caught in an avalanche, or stuck in neutral?

1. 49ers, 13-3.
2. Cardinals, 8-8.
3. Seahawks, 7-9.
4. Rams, 2-14.

1. 49ers, stock down. I really think they lost a golden opportunity last year to get back in the elite status, and they further blew it this year by not going full bore after Peyton Manning. They will still be the class of this division, but they'll come back to the pack a little.

2. Cardinals, stasis. A team noted for going nowhere is living up to expectations.

3. Seahawks, stock down. I wish I could tell you what they are doing, but I don't drink and I think you'd have to be plowed to understand them.

4. Rams, stock up. Courtesy of the Commanders the Rams will come out of the cellar and possibly contend for a wildcard.

This is a horrible division as far as quaterbacks go. Come to think of it, is there a decent receiver in this division other than Fitz?

49ers__DOWN__11-5 or 10-6
The 9ers are still good but the scedule lloks tougher to the extent they ay take 2-3 more losses. Their defesne is, course, very strong...even dominant. They slighlty upgraded their WRs, added LaMichael James and Jacobs to an already strong run game, have a great TE and a buss driver at QB. It's a solid mix.

Cardinals__EVEN__8-8 or 7-9
It all hinges on the QB play. If they get even average play there this offnse is going to be explosive. They added 1st Rd pick Floyd to Fitz, Doucet, and Roberts--that could be a great group of WRs. 2011 1st rounder stud RB, Ryan Williams, is finally ready to go. Pair him with Wells and the ground game should be tough too. The D has some excellent playmakers but is very inconsistent.

Seahawks__DOWN__6-10 or 7-9
I just don't where they improved enough to beat last year's 7 wins. If Flynn turns out to be great than al bet are off, but this team is uninspiring.
The wildcard for Seattle is that home field advantage...and they play almost all of their tougher games there this year.

Rams__UP__4-12 or 5-11
The arrow is up here, but they have a long ways to go. The better hope Brian Quick can step in and contribute at WR. The run game is very good and they added help in the seconday and on both lines. We'll see.

SF - down-Alex comes back to reality

Ari - stasis-could go either way

STL - up-only direction they can go

Sea - down-not a clue why really

49ers
- Up. Offense will improve second year under Harbaugh. Moss and Jenkins should be able to contribute to the offense just enough.
Cardinals
- Up. Defense came on towards the end of the season. QB play should improve. Offensive line may improve.
Seahawks
- Stable. Offense should improve slightly. Defense may not.
Rams
- Up. O-line should be slightly better. Bradford needs to improve. Defense should be more consistent under Fischer, showed signs last season.

So you think SF win more than 13 games? Bold
So 14+ wins?

Az will win 9+?

Seattle 8+ wins?

You are loving the division
