Here's how I see it shaping up in the NFCE, based on FA Purchases thius far ...New York Giants (Defensive Shopping)

New York Giants (Defensive Shopping)

So far working on an improved defense -- Madison has been one of the game's top cover corners for years. Arrington (if the deal is made) would bring an explosiveness to the linebacker corps. The Giants have one of the best pass-rushing tandems in the league with Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora, and are looking to build around those two players.
DALLAS COWBOYS (OL shopping)

Looks like you want to protect quarterback Drew Bledsoe, who was a sitting duck last year when left tackle Flozell Adams went down with an injury. Dallas will make more moves.

That said, why spend all that money on a WR versus the OL?
WASHINGTON Commanders (Shopping Everywhere)

Washington has only five draft picks in April, and its second-round pick (53rd overall) is its highest. The Commanders also have a fifth-round pick, two sixth-round picks and a seventh-round selection. So it's all about winning here and now for Washington, but the biggest question is the quarterback position. Will Washington go with veteran Mark Brunell, who struggled in last year's playoffs?

Where is the QB and OL depth?

How do you see it ...

I really never understand what the Commanders are doing...they spend millions on the marquee names and then watch them age at a rapid pace as the season wears on. Seems like they just sign guys to make headlines. If they didn't have Greg Williams at D-Coordinator, I think the team and its large collection of egos would have collapsed by now. To me, he is the one piece that can not be replaced as his defense keeps that team in games when the offense is doing nothing.

Here's the thing....

Randel El and Lloyd are hardly big names.

They are average players that got HUGE contracts.

Im not impressed at all by Washingtons moves. I think they are over paying for average players. Maybe Im wrong but Im not even concerened.

Now the Giants on the other hand are starting to scare me.

Washington has been "building" this way since Snyder arrived. They don't believe in the power of the draft and have always preferred trading picks in every round for players or in the case of Arrington and Samuels, high draft picks.

So far the cost of doing business the way Washington has has been absorbed by an ever-increasing salary cap. Who's to say it's the wrong approach? Of course the cap will level off, and then Washington can dump everyone, go 6-10, and gear up for the following season with a high draft pick and fresh cap in place.
