The Cowboys are currently 12th. The Packers ranked only as a potential playoff team........below pick 18

2026 NFL Draft order: Jets hold No. 1 pick entering Week 7; Ravens slide into top five

Pick
12

Dallas Cowboys
2-3-1
Strength of schedule: .456
Remaining SOS: .523 (14)
Week 7 opponent: vs. Commanders
Biggest needs: Edge, WR, CB, OT, RB

If second-rounders Donovan Ezeiruaku (2025) and Marshawn Kneeland (2024) step up as the season goes on, the Cowboys may be able to bypass their pass-rushing needs to focus on finding another top-tier receiver. George Pickens has been incredibly productive for Dallas while Pro Bowler CeeDee Lamb (ankle) has been sidelined, but both Pickens and Jalen Tolbert are impending free agents.

How this guy misses our need at LBer is wild........

I will try and update every Monday or Tuesday ......... after the writer posts his article

Tolbert is gone, unless Pickens ends up being too expensive for us, which is very possible.

I would at a minimum already be looking into the health of Christian Wilkinson, even if it is for next season. After a year off with an injury, he should not break the bank.

Stop being a fan of the draft more than a fan of the team we have
The team we have as a whole is below par. You could easily argue the best part of the year, is fantasizing, that Jerry will finally have a decent off season.

I'm open to going "Team-Tank". Its too early for that, IMO, and could even prove embarrassing to discuss this so soon.

Players and Coaches can't tank. They are playing for their jobs and future contracts. Only Owners and GM's can tank.

Jerry can chose to trade players and or put current injured players scheduled to come back on season ending IR, which would be a form of tanking.

I think he's gone anyway.........he can thank Flournoy for that IMO. As for Pickens, Jerry will tag him if he's too expensive for a long-term deal IMO. Hell, Jerry just said last week signing him to a new deal will not be a problem........ that tells me Jerry has every intention of keeping him coz he knows he has the tag in his pocket.

Tagging him would also making him too expensive in a short term deal and once again insure, that we will not be a significant player in Free Agent to fix our defense.

We all know the defense is the problem, so let's spend an additional $25M to $30M on a WR.

Do we really think or expect 2 rookie 1st picks is going to solve our Defensive problems?

Currently according to NFL.COM team standings page Dallas is ninth. I would post it but I don't know how to post screenshots on this forum.

C'mon.....when was the last time we were "significant " players in free agency? Jerry and Stephen have shown over and over that they would rather spend on their own players than on outside free agents........Clark and Pickens are no longer outsiders. Just me, but I am 100% confident Pickens will be a Dallas Cowboy at least through 2026. I will own it if I'm wrong but I don't believe I will be.

Their is really no player on our defense to spend the money on.

Exactly.........but as mentioned by some other posters, I do think they sign a couple mid-level free agents who won't break the bank. Roquan Smith comes to mind.......he was drafted by Eberflus with the Bears. Signed a 3-year deal with the Ravens last season but there's an out after this season. Sign him, keep Clark, replace Diggs with an elite talent, use two 1st rounders and 2nd drafting defensively.........this is a completely different defense. You can still tag Pickens.......assuring our high power offense stays in tack .........NOW WE ARE COOKING (LOL)

That's a very Jerry approach.

Question - we get to Wk 15, the Offense is still elite, Dak's fit, but the Defense still fails and we're 4-8-1(which is quite optimistic with the upcoming schedule),do you:
a) Continue with the hope we falter into no.7 seed (....with he distinct probability we are one and done, or
b) Sit (rest) Dak, see what Milton can do as a no2 and pseudo tank?

There's an argument that battling to annually getting to 8 or 9 wins isnt going to get us where we want......unless you just want the money coming in based on relevancy.

Taking into account tie breakers and play-off assumptions: 10/14/25
Dallas 12th
Packers 29th
There are some really bad teams ahead of Dallas, it's going to be tough for Dallas to get into single digits.
