NFL and NFLPA joint announcement for player suspension

Before the NFL suspends people they need to clearly lay it out what these are because they dont explain rules very well

I can see this going bad
Yes... hopefully it's something that's judged on by a group of people after the game, so that the same group of people are evaluating all incidents, so that it would be consistent

If it's based on refs calls, it's gonna be erratic, and some teams will get hit harder than others based on the ref groups they most often see

Horse collar and hip drop CAN be subjective

Right!! I can see for something like fighting touching a ref, doing or saying something inappropriate during the game, but this damn! I guess it's all about player safety yet they want to add more games lol

Refs are stupid. I’m ready for that ai robot that kicked that kid to get his shot at reffing.

Thumbs down. If a guy makes a blatantly dangerous hit on a play, just throw him out of the game at that point.

Also, I don't understand the carryover thing. It says violations will carryover into subsequent seasons? What does that mean? If you get 2 in 20206 and 1 in game 13 of 2027 you get suspended for 1 game? Do they carryover for 2 seasons? do they expire at any point?

What I don't like is the questionable calls that turn into suspensions. We know the refs will make questionable calls.

This is a controversial opinion but I never liked the horse collar rule. The horse collar play is only dangerous when the tackler falls on the back of the legs of the runner and pins his legs which causes the injury - just like the hip drop. A tackler running full speed that grabs the shoulder pads and pulls a guy down from behind but does not land on the runners legs rarely causes injury. They should differentiate the two types of horse collars.
