I like it....keep hatin'.
whats so horrible about it??
Then you would be rewarding offenses for not moving the ball closer to the goalline. Offenses could end up benefiting from penalties.
3rd and 1 at DET 1(3:44) D.Murray up the middle to DET 1 for no gain (N.Suh).Dallas was 9-for-9 in touchdowns on runs from the 3-yard line in.
What?
If Team A was making a kick attempt from 30 yards out and got a 10 yard penalty on the play, then they'd be kicking from 40 yards out, resulting in more points for the kick (though it is a more difficult kick)
I was giving regular season numbers. 11 of 12 counting playoffs.3rd and 1 at DET 1(3:44) D.Murray up the middle to DET 1 for no gain (N.Suh).
I feel like it's a mistake. They've identified an issue but they're taking the wrong approach. The extra point should just be free or you can do a 2 from the 2.
SO this... the extra point is so perfunctory that it should just be given. Or, you can go for 2.
That's it.
Moving them makes it less likely, but so does setting the ball on fire. Making a change for changes sake is the conclusion of a child-like mind.
Nobody gives a hot damn about extra point kicks.
