NFL.com: Bears to let Cutler walk?

NFL.com's Mike Silver believes there's a "very real possibility" the Bears let Jay Cutler walk in free agency.
Silver believes Bears coach Marc Trestman "might not place as much of a premium on arm strength as some of his peers," and that Cutler has hurt his cause by remaining turnover prone.

A source "familiar with the Bears' situation" agrees. "If you're (Trestman), do you want to spend $20 million a year on Cutler, who might not be the best fit, or do you want to find someone you can mold who's efficient," the source asked rhetorically.

"And if you think about how deep this (next) draft class might be, he can identify his guy and get him relatively cheap for the next few years." The Bears would be gambling by throwing in the towel on Cutler, but he turns 30 in April, and has grown increasingly injury prone. It will likely at least be considered in the Windy City.

And I do not want him in Dallas. Not even as a backup.

There's no way anyone should pay him that kind of coin.

Well without Cutler now their draft pick will be in good spot to grab their next QB.

Teddy and Mariota will probably go to Jags and Raiders or Bucs, but there are more to choose from.

I'd say release him. Cutler is about as bad as Vick for staying healthy. Has he ever stayed upright for a full 16 games in a season? Plus he's been known to get under the skin of his team mates with his sour attitude.

Very overrated his whole career but he will land somewhere obviously with how poor the QB play is across this league.

I'd let him walk as well. He's never going to lead you anywhere and no sense in spending big money on him.

When I see Cutler, I am always reminded of Jeff George.

Cutler just seems destined for Oakland. I can easily see him as a Raider.

Other than one bad game, Cutler was playing some of his best ball this year.

That is a lot of money though.
