NFL.com wire reports
(Oct. 3, 2005) -- Antrel Rolle, the Arizona Cardinals' first-round draft pick this year, will miss the rest of the season because of a left knee injury.
No roster move was immediately made, but coach Dennis Green didn't expect the former University of Miami cornerback, the No. 8 pick in April, to heal and complete rehabilitation in time to return this season.
Rolle played in three games, making 18 tackles (17 solo) before tearing meniscus cartilage during a 37-12 loss at Seattle on Sept. 25.
Rolle saw prominent Miami orthopedist John Uribe over the weekend, and Uribe did the operation today.
"You hate to see any player get an injury that takes him out of the season, particularly since it's so early in the season and you hate to see your front-line guy taken out of the year," Green said. "But we'll march on with it. The guys that filled in did a pretty good job yesterday. They played hard and they kept pace with the rest of the guys on the defense."
David Macklin, Arizona's other starting cornerback, aggravated his left hamstring injury Oct. 2 and had to leave the 31-14 victory against the 49ers in Mexico City. Raymond Walls, who started at left corner in Rolle's absence, strained his left groin and also was sidelined.
