The task force in features asked that I write the most overrated and underrated Dallas Cowboys of all time this week, and with lots of agonizing over some Capri Suns, the following list has come to pass. It was harder than evaluating all of the Commanders Draft classes, the last beast of a project these sweat-hounds asked me to do.

Underrated
Chuck Howley -- LB, 1961-73
Cliff Harris -- DB, 1970-79
Darren Woodson -- SS, 1992-04
Everon Walls -- DB, 1981-89
Tony Romo -- QB, 2003-present

Overrated
Andre Gurode -- G/C, 2002-10
Leon Lett -- DT, 1991-00
Bill Parcells -- coach, 2003-06
Bob Hayes -- RB, 1965-74
Marion Barber -- RB, 2005-10

Overated:
Poster Child - Billy Ray Cannon ( and I am an Aggie)

He never played. It's hard to be underated or overated in a deal like that. I'd say he was not rated at all.

You are talking about Billy Cannon Jr. (TAM) and not Billy Ray Cannon (LSU) yes?

The person who wrote this is a Grade A Nincompoop. Not only because he rated Bob Hayes "overrated", but he also listed the HOF wide receiver as a "RB"

Looks like a typo, as he calls him a HOF WR in his write-up.
This writer is a big Cowboy homer, btw.

Other than Bob Hayes, and Gurode, I thought it was pretty well compiled. I especially loved what was written on Romo, truer words have not been spoken.

I do not consider MB3 overrated. He was a 4th RD pick that had a few really good years and then went into decline. The few years he was good was legit.

Didnt Bob Hayes change how the game was played? John Niland, Cornell Green, Geroge Andrie, Pat Donovan and Billy Joe Dupree need to be on the under rated list just off the top of my head.

I know he had some rough moments, but I think, for the most part, Cowboys fans never really appreciated Flozell during his time here.

Correct. Before Bog Hayes, pass coverage was man to man. However, one man couldn't cover Bob Hayes alone. That's how and why the zone defense came into being.
