Why would he play in the NFL? He's already making millions of dollars sprinting for 9 seconds..........

He would have to declare himself eligible for the draft before he could even try and play football.

How do you even know he can catch? Dallas tried this with Carl Lewis back in the day, he didn't bite either.

repeat after me, there will never be another Bob Hayes, ever.

you cant sign him to a contract as a free agent,

this subject was touched on a few days ago

league rules say that he has to go into the nfl draft, then drafted,

No where did I read that he has even the slightest interest in playing football.

Wow....another sprinter who is supposed to translate success to the football field? How many does that make? With the exception of the Bullet, who actually was a football player who happened to be the "world's fastest human" , I can't think of any that have panned out.

Once they get hit in the chops, they usually stop running fast. Although Bolt is quite a physical specimen, I don't believe he has ever played American football. Yeah, if I was him I would stick to track and dominate. Like the announcer said, in races which usually come down to hundredths of a second, he just burned the competition and made it look easy.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of them have suspicions of you know what....God, I hope not.

Did you even read the article???

Other than Hayes, there was Nehemiah, Willie Gault, Ron Brown, James Jett, etc.

I don't see the harm in just contacting the guy, what harm is there in that???

Lowber is a speed guy who did not play football, and he could turn out to be a decent player, or more_it all depends on him. People forget that it was soccer players who revolutionized the kicking game. Other athletes who crossed over successfully fairly recently are basketball player turned TE Antonio Gates and rugby/aussie rules football player turned American football punter, Mat McBriar.

Why would the guy play football? He doesn't even watch football, the only football he watches is the one where you kick a ball into a net. The guy doesn't like football and doesn't care about football like 94% of the world.

Lets see here, make millions of dollars running for 9 seconds.

Or, make the rookie minimum and risk breaking you're neck in a sport you've never watched or played.

It's not a hard decision.

If you are Brandon Bolt, Usain's life partner, then you could be right as you would be intimate with him enough to know his mind, among other things.

If not, then you are just blowing it out of your orifice. Who knows what happens in 2 months, he could be giving his medals back for a failed test, or some other scandal.

Again, what harm is there to open a dialogue with this guy? It is one thing to be skeptical, to have low expectations, but the over the top negative nancy thing is beyond belief.

Hayes set a then-world record of 10 seconds flat in winning gold in the 100 meters (even though he was running in a lane that had been badly worn from a race the day before). And in the 4 x 100 relay, he led an amazing come-from-behind victory with a 100-meter leg that was unofficially timed at 8.6 seconds.
No way....even for Bolt, that is absolutely unreal. He must have only run the last 90 meters then.

Wow...just because he can run fast means he can play NFL ball? So you know he can catch? How about how well he'd learn a play book? Could he take the pounding of being beaten up by NFL defenders?

This isn't the 60's anymore. You can't just be fast and out run the defense, forcing them to change schemes for you, cause now they play zone. Thanks to Bob being so great they changed the game and thus made it a lot harder for some guy off the track field to just walk into the NFL and say "Hey I'm an NFL reciever."

Not to forget, as mentioned, the guy already makes millions at a track star for running 9 or 10 seconds. No real reason to even look at football.

Not true on draft - he needs to satisfy NFL draft eligibility - if not drafted 3 years post high school graduation he is deemed a free agent. At 21 he may meet draft requirements but in a year or two will not.

Kickers aren't exactly football players. McBriar went from kicking to kicking. Not that big of a leap. Gates has played the game, he just prefered basketball. Bolt, more than likely, doesn't know the game.

Well, I have a neighbor that says he is pretty good at football. What is the harm in the Cowboys checking him out? Lance Armstrong was rated the top athlete once, maybe we should scout him. With his endurance, he could be in on every play, offense and defense..

I should have stopped reading right there. You obviously do not have a clue as to how to play Australian Rules Football.

As for Bolt not knowing the game, that is more than likely true. But neither did Carl Lewis, and the Cowboys still drafted him b/c of his rare speed.

Bolt may not have experience playing football, but he has excelled in other sports, cricket being one. If he wanted (this is key obviously) he has the talent to transcend his inexperience.

I will keep that in mind the next time the rules committee discusses using bicycles on kick returns. See, you should have stopped while you were behind, that was a laughable example. Good arguments:

-Loves Jamaica_has turned down other offers (US school scholarships)
-Lacks dedication/too easy going (problem in the past)
-Track is too lucrative

Neither of the above counters what I'm trying to get across, what harm does it do to establish dialogue? Seriously, how does it hurt YOU for the Cowboys to open a line of communication, I mean come on?!?

And before you start throwing out comparisons of NASCAR drivers and jockeys at me, I will concede that the likelihood of Bolt in the NFL is slim to none.

But that sliver of a chance is not enough to keep me from getting extremely bored with this topic. All done.

Outside of the Bullet, the only other World Class sprinter who was any good at football was Willie Gault. He was decent, but not much more. But his speed did force the D to adjust to him all the time. No one else was more then a blip.
