NFL.com GM Power Rankings

Who cares, another useless meaningless rankings. I guess some will like it and get in their jabs.
Well, at least this should be somewhat entertaining.

Where will our fellow fans rank Jerry up or mostly down from the fans. Keep in mind there will be a bell curve. Haters and Lovers will be tossed out to get more of a true cross section. :lmao2:

This is an odd response.

His ranking is pretty fair and accurate. Why does this bend you out of shape?

It doesn't bend me out of shape, I actually am surprised they ranked him that high.
Was just having some fun, as I know the Jerry hater comments will be out in force.
Just some draft week humor (or not) I guess. :muttley:

I find it curious that he states that Jerry has built a roster loaded with talent at their prime and then only ranks him 13th. Surely, by that assessment, JJ has done all he can and others are failing him. Not my opinion btw, just an observation on what the article states. Personally I would think that JJ as a GM is better than his critics believe but not as good as his supporters think.

It's good to see Jerry has leaned upon McClay to advantage but if it were up to him to GM the draft, we'd be in trouble. Credit that to McClay.

At least he mentioned with the help from Will McClay, and also said Stephen. But give Jerry credit for allowing them to do their job too.

I agree. Who cares how good our GM is?

Jerry had a few good drafts several years ago.

The notion that the cowboys FO are draft gurus is a narrative that th Joneses themselves created.

Rosenthal is hardly a Jones butt kisser. The Jones didn't write this thing themselves.

I think the Cowboys, as a team, are better than most believe at drafting. If they would stop forcing picks (Taco and Hill) they would be even better.

And some of you still want them to draft based on “needs”. SMH.

This is odd to critique. They are judging Jerry based on things he does as a owner. I Guess maybe we should get a understanding of what this writer considers a GM's job. I have no problem with the ranking. For hiring Jason I'd put him right where they put him. But his write up seems rather favorable.........

And the overrating of Howie Roseman rears its ugly head once again. Easily the most overrated guy on that list.

Putting the right people in place is part of the GM's job, and that includes coaching. Sticking with Garrett for so long should automatically bring down Jones' rating despite good drafting. Then, there's also the environment in which some players apparently feel they can bypass the head coach, negating his authority. A good GM respects the chain of command.

I am not as down on Jerry as many are, maybe partly because I know as owner Jerry can do whatever he wants and complaining isn't going to change that. However, I think he's at his best when he has a strong-willed coach who tells him what he wants and Jerry goes out and gets it for him. As owner/GM, he has direct access to the pocketbook.

I thought it was created when they hit on some unsuspecting picks like fredbeard, finding dak in the late 4th round, gallop in the 3rd, etc.

Taco went about where he was rated. I don't know on Hill, but I assume that's also the case. So I don't think either of those were considered just "needs" picks. If we had picked up Watt instead of Charlton despite Watt being rated lower, everyone would have been happy with that choice ... and it would have been a "needs" pick.

You have to credit the owner, though, for hiring/promoting a good personnel man and letting him do his job.

We can't just criticize him for his failed hirings and not give him credit for his good ones.
