For the last few years I have subscribed to the NFL.com package where you can watch games after the fact. Any game of any week, they are all there but you can't see them until Monday or Tuesday.

The other day I was checking out NFL.com and they have a new video service.

"Preseason Live"

https://preseason.nfl.com/nflpl/secure/registerform?icampaign=PL_HPRB_985x60

All preaseason games live. Watch all 50 games as they happen for like $40.

Pretty good deal price-wise. I wouldn't pay for preseason games but I would pay $10/week to watch NFL games on the internet during the regular year.

Now, I don't know if NFL will expand this to the regular season. I hope they do but I doubt it happens this year. They should, they would pull dump trucks full of money in from this service. But I wonder, can they do it? I don't see why they can't. There's no way I could see the league hamstringing itself by allowing DirecTV to have rights over the internet broadcasting of games.

Anyway, I saw this little service and it kind of got me excited. My guess is they are seeing how much of a market is available online and will potentially start this service during the regular season in a couple of years.

I'd pay for it. I'd pay $200 if that was the cost. I can't get DirecTV so something like this would be much more worth it to me.

Hoofbite I starting doing the MLB.com package and you can watch any out-of-network game in progress.

It's semi HD video quality and since I'm in Alaska virtually all non-Seattle games (that aren't on Fox or ESPN) are carried.

You can even pick the audio feed: home/away/radio.

They have a DVR (pause/rewind/etc) but that's rarely worked for me.

I love it....I think I paid $120. Big Ranger fan here.

I don't know if I could justify the nfl thing because 2/3 of the games seem to be on one channel or another. But I wish they had it where you could buy a single games live.

When I had DirecTV I suggested that to the sales lady when she asked if there was anything the company could do to keep me as a customer. There wasn't anything they could do, I was moving and couldn't get their service.

Anyway, I said it would be nice to order games on a pay-per-view basis. She said she would forward it to the "customer suggestion" center or something like that.

I can only imagine what those guys did when they got the memo. Probably laughed and wiped their *** with it.

We were talking about the preseason live thing in a couple other threads, quite a few people, myself included, do it and its well worth the money IMO great quality and never lags and so far for the cowboys games youve been able to choose the cowboys commentary instead of regular.

I would pay for regular season games, but never preseason. I cant believe some of you guys are actually paying money to watch preseason games.

The days of 4 and 5 preseason games are fixing to be long gone. The league is going to 18 regular season games and 2 preseason games in the new CBA, its basically a done deal from what you read on the net.

thats they way they should have it - kinda like pay for view

you pay to watch the game you want

but hell it will be probably cost out the dass

and I think college should go that route also

I love Arkansas would love to see their games each week

but I am now stuck between three cities I do not care for

chicago - Minn - St Louis

I mean i am right in the middle each 250 miles from me

so it looks like the sports bar for me this year

I can't see paying $1000 bucks a year just to watch the cowboys with Direct tv - my bill was like $80 a month

then I got regular cable also plus internet - $120 a month

so lots of money for TV - to much so I dropped Direct TV

channel surf an athe internet services the games was chopping an not coming in clear

I'm sure their studies show the money is in forcing people to pay for a whole season. I can only say that I'll never pay over $100 for 3 or 4 games.

I was one of those who paid for it once I saw the demo. I know its preseason, but even if you used it only to watch the Dallas games that werent on national TV (3 of them) it works out to $13 bucks and change a game, an amount I'd easily exceed going to a sports bar that might have found the game.

Its honestly one of the better things invented for a football junky. You can literally watch any ganme, on demand. You can also change from game to game and it will pause there, allowing you to pick up exactly where you left off later on. I was able to watch 2 or 3 games at once the other day without missing any plays. It also has on demand game stats etc etc.

But do agree with you on the other point, it would be great for people who cant get direct TV to have access to this for regular season games.

According to the lady I talked to, they have this sorta. It's a per per week type thing. $50 and you get all the games that week. If this season is like the last two, I've only needed Sunday Ticket for about 5 games. TEMPTED to cancel Sunday Ticket and just do this. Of course, the moment I do I'll spend 500 just to see all the games.

NFL.com probably cannot broadcast an online regular season package due to the fact that it would undercut DirecTV who has already paid hundreds of millions, if not billions for the right to carry the games on the Sunday Ticket.

While I would also like an ala carte package for regular season, I don't think it will happen anytime soon, unless NFL agrees to share the proceeds with DirecTV and agrees to charge about $40-50/game.

Try veetle.com for free live streaming. The quality is really great with no buffering. Both team feeds were available for the last game.

I got this service. I haven't used the Audio Pass yet. Anyone tried it and if so , how do you like it?

I can't wait till all TV is Internet driven. No more needing DirecTV or anything else. Just subscribe to an Internet TV channel that you want.

I currently have MLB.tv (also a huge Rangers fan) I run the MLB.tv app on my PS3 and watch it on my big screen TV. I pay for the HD version of it and while streaming it over the Internet to the TV isnt' quite the HD quality you get on a TV, it's more than enough.

The NFL needs it's own streaming channel. With Internet connected TVs coming out, it will happen. The best thing about it is the fact that you will then be able to purchase only the channels you want vs having to pay for hundreds of channels you don't.

See, I don't know. Wasn't the contract with DirecTV recently renewed in the past few years.

Even if it has been five years, I cannot see the NFL hamstringing themselves when it comes to making money. DirecTV might have the sole right to broadcast games on television but the NFL ultimately owns the rights to the actual footage.

Of course they would scheme it so you have to spend an assload either way.

It's like cell phone texting plans.

4.99 for 200 texts or 15.99 for 1500.

You're either forced to monitor your texting or forced to pay for a surplus.

Direct tv will not take the money for the season

I tried to pay it all off at one time last year so I sent them like $400 to pay for the NFL thing

I wanted my payments to stay at $80 a month

so I get no bills for a couple months then I get one for $120

how stupid

Nope. It's free, but unlike justin.tv and some of the others, the picture quality is very good and it doesn't buffer every five seconds. Try it for the next preseason game. Wait until gametime and go to http://www.veetle.com and do a search for the game.

Or 19.99 for unlimited. :laugh2: Anyway you slice it, cell companies are bending you over for a service that costs next to nothing for them.

As far as DirecTV, yeah kinda pricey per week. If you only had to do it 3-4 times, it would save you money.

I got unlimited because I send/recieve 13,000+ a month. My record is 16,000. JTYSK
