NFL Combine: Casserly says Dez’s character an issue
Posted by berrytramelon February 26, 2010M at 1:13 pm Dez Bryant’s character remains an issue for NFL scouts. So says Charley Casserly, who spent 16 years as a general manager (Commanders, Texans) and now is a CBS analyst.
Casserly also said that Oklahoma’s Trent Williams is viewed more as a left tackle, which will probably send him to the lower portions of the first round, and that Oklahoma State’s Russell Okung remains among the four offensive tackles expected to go among the top nine picks.

Bryant, Oklahoma State’s superb flanker, was ruled ineligible by the NCAA early in the 2009 season for lying to investigators about his involvement with Deion Sanders.
“What people have told me, he’s a top-five (talent),” Casserly said. “Big, explosive, rangy.”
But Casserly said the NFL still wonders “perhaps how he’ll adjust to the pro life. That’s things they’ll want to monitor. I can’t rate him with Andre Johnson yet.”
Casserly said teams see Williams as a right tackle rather than a left tackle. “That drops his value below the other” first-round tackles.
Casserly said Iowa’s Bryan Bulaga is more “polished” than the other tackles, Rutgers’ Anthony Davis is the most “intriguing” because of his run blocking and pass blocking skills, and that Okung “plays to the level of competition. That’s not all bad in the NFL.”
Berry Tramel can be heard Monday through Friday from 4:40-5:20 p.m. on The Sports Animal radio network, including AM-640 and FM-98.1. You can e-mail him here and follow him on Twitter @BerryTramel.
