I see it like this. The refs are not part of the game, neither should their mistakes be. I'm all for something like this. This is the reason instant replay was added because the refs where failing the game.

Some people call it the human side of the game. Thats the players that make the human mistakes. The refs are not supposed to be able to influence the game. They are suppose in force the rules only. Ball placement is defined in the rules, not in where the ref decides it should be.

Fair enough. But, like I said before, it would be easy to go overboard. Electronics are not infallible, either.
