07:11 AM ET 05.06 | At this time of year, unsigned players are working out in hopes of signing as free agents. It's also an interesting time for the teams, as they look ahead to the possibility of a lock out in 2011. Fringe players might become starters if there's a long labor dispute. The NFL went with replacement players in 1987 during the last protracted labor stalemate. The league might already be making preparations and rumors are they are going to buy a 25 percent stake in the United Football League. The UFL, which now has five teams and plays six games in the fall, could become a feeder league along the line of NFL Europe. However, if there's a long lockout, UFL players could possibly become NFL players overnight.

Huge mistake if the NFL lets it get to that point. No one wants to watch the NFL if every team had the talent of the Rams.

I'd hate to see this as well.

But, I do remember 1987, and the replacement players. If I remember right, didn't one or a couple of those Cowboys replacement players actually make the team and stay on the roster once the strike was over? I could be wrong, but if that is correct, anybody remember who he/they was/were...?

Yes we did have a player who went from the replacement team to the reg team.

I would hate to see happen and hope both sides can reach a deal but just as I did in the last time it happen I will watch it.

Who knows we could end up seeing Jamarcus Russell throwing to TO in a replacement game.

No name? Or names?

I remember during the 87 strike Dorsett said he would kick anyone ars who crossed the picket line and Randy White said I would like to see him do that as he crossed the picket line to go play football.
