NFL Draft 2017: Overall Value Scores for all 32 Teams

https://truthgatefootball.wordpress...t-2017-overall-value-scores-for-all-32-teams/

I recently came across this article by Jibbstradamus that assigns a numerical value to each draft pick. This value is compared to the value of each player on his big board. The difference becomes the true value of the pick. After comparing all the players that each team selected, the Cowboys ended up ranking seventh overall in the draft...

The Cowboys scored well in this evaluation process for a couple reasons. First, the players Dallas selected were ranked favorably on Jibbsy’s big board. Second, the Cowboys continued to rack up some good points in each of their first five selections. All six of the teams ahead of Dallas had some great value player of at least 1,500 points. For example, Washington’s DL Jonathan Allen was worth 2,050 points because he was fourth on the big board, but selected 17th overall. While the other top teams landed a big value player, the Cowboys got their points without a big score player, but rather by consistently making good picks....

7. Dallas Cowboys

Overall Score: +3,070 Points

Highest Value Picks (in descending order):

1. CB Jourdan Lewis +868 (92nd overall)

2. OLB Taco Charlton +840 (28th overall)

3. CB Chidobe Awuzie +700 (60th overall)

4. WR Ryan Switzer +461 (133rd overall)

5. S Xavier Woods +202 (191st overall)...

...For you to buy into this evaluation, you would first need to feel that Jibbsy’s board was put together in a reasonable manner. Here is how he ranked the Cowboys first five picks:

23. Taco Charlton – Michigan – EDGE – 6’6″ 277 lbs – athleticism – bend

43. Chidobe Awuzie – Colorado – Defensive Back – 6’0″ 202 lbs – physicality

56. Jourdan Lewis – Michigan – Defensive Back – 5’10” 188 lbs – competitiveness

63. Ryan Switzer – North Carolina – Wide Receiver – 5’8″ 181 lbs

138. Xavier Woods – Louisiana Tech – Safety – 5’11” 197 lbs...

This looks fairly reasonable for the most part. I wouldn't put Jacksonville at 5. It seems to be really overvaluing Cam Robinson.

obviously there will be some time before we truly know about this class but I'll tell ya it's nice getting some props nationally for another good draft.

For most of the Cowboys drafts prior to 2010 (outside of a couple like the Ware/Spears/Canty/Ratliff draft) public panning was the norm.

I still hate the Skins got Allen, hopefully he turns out to be another overrated Bama player, but at #17, thats alot of value.

I'll take #7, when we were picking #28, everyday and twice on Sunday.

Cleveland gets 200 points for Garrett but we get 461 for Switzer. I'll take a lower ranking and Garrett
Do you understand the value system? It isn't indicating that Switzer is a better player, just better value. Garrett was drafted where he was expected to go. Switzer, drafted much later than expected.

Still can't believe the Colts didn't draft an OL until the 6th round. The organization is slowly killing Luck.

That is a strange situation there. They really seem to be lost as regards building a team. For all the heat Cleveland has deservedly gotten the last 10 years, Indy has not exactly set the world on fire in their drafts. Outside of Luck have they really hit on ANYONE since?

No doubt.

This exercise was judging how teams did with what they had. So what value they got with the picks they had.

If you ask which teams had the best drafts based who they got..period...I'd say props go to Cleveland and San Francisco for starters.
Dallas id well anyway though.Francisco

Agree. I did not want them to get him at all

We can't complain about the drafting anymore. We don't have Romo to blame. If the Defense is fixed what's left? Oh yeah Garrett.
