Drafted by Cowboys NFL Draft: Day 1 Thread

Matt Eberflus's defensive scheme for the Dallas Cowboys emphasizes pressure from the front four and a zone coverage approach on the back end.

I'm not saying Nolen would have been a great pick in that system. IDC if we paid OSA. Our DT's are terrible outside of OSA.

Bob, no one was trying to move up.

Panthers advertised that they would take a discount to move down from 8 and had no takers.

Houston called us and low balled. We passed.

You know better than just saying we should drop down 3-5 spots like it’s that easy.
That’s a fair point Kwyn. But how do we know what Hou offered was a low ball? I don’t know either way. But your point is valid.

This pick proves the Cowboys continue to fail to coach up Offensive Linemen. Why trade for and sign so many veteran O-linemen in recent months? What about Brock Hoffman? If Brock proves to be the better Right Guard in camp and preseason, are you going to bench him simply to please Jerry's dumb ego for overdrafting once again??? How many 1st round picks on the Oline does this franchise need while neglecting other positions of need?
We are at odds at times but agree so much with this my man! I just told my son, you could have 100 O-lineman and try and make it fit but if your one skill guy is CD who cares. That diesnt even touch on DBs. Skill is lacking.

I feel like there is so much talent on the board while teams reach or grab need

I could see taking a tackle to replace terrance steele but hoffman played well last season at RGRG.
Moving Smith out to T if Guyton or Steele struggle is still in play. Hoff and Bass filled in adequately last season so worst case we are looking at Smith, Booker, Beebe, Hoffman, Guyton/Steele. Solves the OT problem and allows for a strong IOL. I don't love it at 12, but it should allow the coaches to field an upgraded OL from what we saw last year. Depth is looking good as well.

Look...if you can only converse with people that slobber on whatever Jerry does, year after year, decade after decade, OF FAILURE, then there's plenty of those types here.

But that's not me. And that's not crying. It's disagreeing with a failure of a GM...who now has a 3 decade long record of failure.

This isn't even a great guard. He's great in a phone booth...but he's really shaky blocking rushers in space. He's not Quinton Nelson (who, by the way, how much did he move the needle for the Colts?)

I'm sure you loved the Mazi pick too, and perhaps still do
Nothing here is "slobbering over Jerry". If it was a bad pick, I'd say it was a bad pick. You're emotional and it's hurting your argumentation.

And you can make the same freakin' argument about nearly every position in the league that isn't the QB. Martin and Smith didn't win us super bowls. Neither did Frederick. Lamb hasn't won us a Super Bowl. If Booker ends up being an all-pro and perennial pro-bowler we made the right freakin' pick. Simply stating "you don't pick guards in the top 15" is just a lunacy take. It just is.

I don’t like the spot we picked him but I am a trenches guy. Walker would have been my choice or maybe Nolen but I can live with Booker.
