meh pick, traits guy. run down 3-tech. I would have preferred Horsley, they brought both of those D tackles in for visits.
At least, the first two days were good. Day 3 wasn't what I was hoping for. Hopefully, these guys work out though.

Your original argument was that he won't be competing for the starting job, something that neither of us can accurately predict at this time. My counter was that he was taken well past his projections due to character concerns and that he has the ability to compete if he goes into camp with the right mindset. If you cannot agree with that reasoning, there is no reason to discuss it further.
What do you think his real projections were? There is not a player, forget even QB, who would fall from rounds 1 to 5 purely on character concerns. You can blow out your knee and go from 20 to 50 even when the team knows you wont play a year minimum. Tunsil fell from potential top 6-7 pick to around 12th because of a video. Basically there are no character concerns that cause a drop of larger than 1 round. That means the NFL GMs had him as a 3rd or 4th round prospect, and the Browns were the highest on him with that grade, and he fell from that due to character concerns. That seems like something we can agree on. Whether you think that their analysis is wrong that was the analysis of GMs. We disagree on whether we think they are about him being a 3rd/4th round prospect but that seems to be where they placed him value wise.

As for the roster the thing about Sanders is simply that the 4th string guy (which is where he is starting out) rarely is competing for the starting job, especially when the rookie reps are going to go to the higher pick first. He is more likely to be cut than start (and honestly probably more likely to be cut than not cut) and lets break down why. Flacco 100% makes the roster because he is the veteran and they want that in a young QB locker room. Their rookie 3rd round pick is absolutely making the roster (it is rare to see a 3rd round pick cut as a rookie). That means he both needs to beat out Pickett (not hard) AND the Browns need to be willing to keep 3 QBs on the roster (about 40% chance based on last years rosters).

Bruegler

Olatunbosun “Tommy” Akingbesote (ah-KING-bah-so-tay) grew up in District Heights, Md., with his parents (Odun and Arinola). He saw himself as a basketball player before making the switch to football as a junior at Charles Herbert Flowers High, because that was his best chance at a college scholarship. A four-star recruit, Akingbesote received offers from Oklahoma, Texas A&M and others, but he was locked on nearby Maryland because of the coaching staff. He was the second-ranked defensive lineman in Mike Locksley’s 2021 class, behind Chop Robinson.

Akingbesote carries most of his weight in his upper half, and he can dent the depth of the pocket with initial quickness off the snap. He made gradual improvements each season and has yet to play his best football, although he is still connecting the dots — and things won’t slow down in the NFL. Overall, Akingbesote has unquestionable talent, especially for his size, but he was more of a cog in the machine than a difference-maker that jumped off the tape or the stat sheet.

Here's what I found: Akingbesote measured in at 6-foot-4 and 306 pounds at the NFL Combine with moldable 33.5-inch arms and 10.5-inch hands. He made a career-high 32 tackles and five tackles for loss for the Terrapins in 2024.
