Drafted by Cowboys NFL Draft: Day 3 thread

Still 30 picks to our next pick

When it's all we do, and we have teams ahead of us having way, way better drafts year after year - it is part of the reason.
If drafting is our claim to fame and we continue to have meh drafts, how do we keep up with better teams ?
Our drafts are generally as good as any other teams. There are years you hit more and years you miss more.

The mistake is counting too heavily on the draft and not doing enough to supplement your picks.

How many of the Eagles' late-round picks last year made an impact? How many the year before? You take shots and hope in the fourth-seventh rounds, but very few impact players are found.

4 picks left - I'd go best RB/DT, and then BPA for the last 2. You can never go wrong with OL this late in the draft. See if anyone available has some positional flex

Fans always believe a guy will be available when they think he should be but just doesn't happen that way for various reasons. If fans an analysts were right then 12 guys that every one of them predicted to be 1st round wouldn't have been available day 2. Same goes for some 20 guys after day 2.

Just because we think Blue would have been available doesn't make it so. Same goes for James and heck we don't even know that he is going to be a LB or S. Many mocks had us taking Nick Martin in 6th because that is where he was slotted but went in 3rd.

Still have four picks left and then the UDFAs which we are good at finding gems. I don't have much faith in Jerry's "substantial " trades unless it is a WR that is worthwhile.

Have to see how it all plays out.
I agree with everything except the part about not knowing if James would be available later in the round or in the 6th round. Of course no one knows who will get drafted where, but is James so great that it was worth giving up a 6th round pick to get him? The Cowboys felt he was worth sacrificing a 6th round pick. At this point in the draft I don't know that it matters that much as all these players are probably nothing more than JAGs, but I don't get why you would sit in the 5th, 3rd and 2nd rounds passively, then get aggressive in the 5th?

For a team that claims to build through the draft they are awfully loose with their draft picks.

Blue is 5'9 and 196lbs. 4.38 40 at the combine.
Gibbs 5'9 and 199 lbs. 4.36 40 at the combine.
Both have a 1.52 10 yard split.

Their size is pretty comparable.
Not the same. Cowboys fans are trying....Deuce Vaughn aka Darren sproles.....not even close...coaching makes a difference. Cowboys don't have any.

Solomon Thomas as an interior pass rusher, but no other 1T type other than Justin Rogers, who we cut last preseason.
That’s what I mean….need a 325+lb run stopper lol! Solomon is serviceable but not the run stopper we need. Who knows, maybe Eberflus will make something work. Stackhouse still on the board, big boy.

No wide receiver or Defensive tackle....With what the Eagles and the rest have done. Going to be a long season....Unless we get a huge trade or two.
Their draft has been outstanding.
