Drafted by Cowboys NFL Draft: Day 3 thread

Do you really believe he dropped in the draft for on-field performance? He was a near unanimous first round talent that fell because he failed the interview process. That doesn't mean that all of a sudden he's less a player than he was a few months ago. It means there were character concerns that scared NFL GMs away. As I said, if his head is on straight come training camp, he has the ability to win the job. That doesn't mean Cleveland will hand him the job. He will have to take it, and considering the competition, that is not out of the question. Don't forget that #4 in Dallas was a 4th round pick, and he was a choir boy coming out. Crazier things have happened.
He wasn't a near unanimous first round talent. A LOT of the people who analyzed him on the field had him as a 2nd or 3rd round talent who acted like Caleb Williams in interviews. The people who lauded him as a 1st round talent were people close to Deion plus a lot of the mock drafts were not what teams SHOULD do but what they thought they WOULD do. Those are two different things.

Sanders was a 2nd or 3rd round talent who was not ready to start day 1 who had a disastrous interview process that made him fall to the 5th. Now yes once a decade you get a day 3 QB who becomes a starter. However it is FAR more likely he joins the 100 or so others who end up either career backups or just out of the league. The idea that he is a 1st round talent is one pushed by people close to Deion, many of whom work in the media, but he simply is not. He holds the ball too long, struggles at making NFL throws, and has a mediocre arm at best, all with limited mobility. The fact that Mel was trying to hype the idea of putting him in a dome kind of highlights that he needs advantages to succeed. The scouts view him as a product of Hunter in the same way Manziel was a product of Mike Evans.

what is wrong with Brashard Smith? i thought he would go in the 5th RD.

Some teams are legit 5 deep at RB. Going to be lots of good ones cut
I’d go get JK Dobbins, he showed last year that the Achilles hasn’t slowed him down, avg 5.2 yrds, still got 1000yrds and missed two games. He’s a three down back and prob can get him on a team friendly deal. Best out there imo, but for some reason everyone wants something new and shiny, he’s only 26.

I know we added Milton, but I would not be opposed to taking Quinn Ewers. good value in 6th.
I'd take him too. He's not very good right now, but you can see that the skills are there. As a third QB/PS guy, I'd be cool with them trying to develop him.

so we happy with our draft or not? Seems like the talking heads are giving us better marks than we have seen in some time
If I had no idea what the Cowboys roster looked like this would be a very good meat and potatoes draft. I don't like the value with their first pick, but Booker should be a good player in a year or two.

On the other hand, knowing the Cowboys problems at DT and RB, and knowing this draft is deep at both of those positions, not loading up there makes no sense to me. The draft fell into their laps with the depth at certain positions. Why not take advantage of the break. They signed 3 free agent offensive linemen, and brought back Hoffman. So they draft an OG at 12? Does this team actually have a coherent plan?

welcome back buddy....where ya been? And agreed, I wanted no part of Sanders and the Browns needing like 65 QB's? What will be next year when the draft class is much better? Craziness and it's safe to say Haslam had his fingers over that pick
I’ve been around. Needed to take a break from all the negativity here. Not healthy at least for me. Love the draft though and get excited about the new additions.

agreed...finally something to look forward to for the team. Still hate the QB but it looks like if you play us, you will feel it afterwards
