1. Henderson is likely to uphold some amount of the suspension.
2. The NFL has tipped its strategic hand and feels that the Eastern District of Texas will be unfavorable for its interests.
It's a mind-bogglingly stupid decision in a long list of them, which is par for the course with the NFL.
The league office and its lawyers appear to be blisteringly incompetent.
The NFL front office and their legal team have been outmaneuvered at every point so far. In fact, if it were not a Cowboys player, I would still be following this as closely because it's almost comical how many mistakes the NFL has made throughout this whole process.
Now, if the NFLPA and the players lose this battle, with all of the NFL's mistakes they have made, they should seriously consider going on strike now. This is not just about Elliott. This is about the NFL no longer even pretending to be fair in their would-be judiciary process. If the NFL wins this, players will be subjected to a large increase in extortions from all range of people, and not just the former women in their lives. The balance between the NFLPA and NFL is literally at stake with this one ruling. If the NFL wins, the NFLPA and players are screwed until the next CBA takes effect.
The NFL probably thought that since they weathered the fallout from suspending golden boy, Tom Brady, without much lingering effects, that all other players would be nothing to worry about. In this case, the NFL had one of the most popular players in the league accused of domestic violence and after all of the miscues (aka: screw ups) with Rice, Hardy, Brown, etc., this was their one chance to say, "See? We are not afraid to punish one of the most popular players if he commits domestic violence against a female!" I say "female" there because if this had been against a male, none of this would have been a story. Of Rice, Hardy, Brown and Elliott, leave it to the NFL to go after the one with the least amount of actual evidence.
