9 Jerry Jones, Cowboys

Last year’s rank: 15

Dak and Zeke, Zeke and Dak: They can make a front office look brilliant. Give Jones a hand for not only listening to his smart football people (primarily son Stephen), but resisting his own bad instincts. There are remnants of those instincts all over his defense, but if the Cowboys ever get that side of the ball settled, everybody better look out.

No offense, Ad, but this isn't Jerry's team. There should be an asterisk next to his name. Only in title is he the GM. Thank the heavens.

Still, thanks for the read, Mr. Butcher :)

Bad instincts on the defense? Tyrone Crawfords contract, okay. Drafting Randy Gregory, okay. Other than those 2 whiffs, who else? The rest are young, some have had injury probs (DLawrence,,JSmith, CTapper). But those 3 are healthy as of now. What other so called remnants are on the defense besides Crawford and Gregory?

way to high for jerry
For Jerry. But not our GM-by-committee.

We've done well in the draft, and last year is the basis of the ranking. Last year was an epic draft, even if solely graded off of heading into the season and "not knowing" if our studs are one-hit wonders or not.

They're not, but that's beside the point. The GM(s) of the Cowboys deserve that rank.

Jerry isn't the GM, tho. Only by title.

Randy Gregory and TCraw's contract aren't part of that list. It's a year-to-year grade, PJ, based strictly on last year's merits.

They said remnants on the defense. So are they grading last years d (free agency, draft, etc) acquisitions?

I think it's only last year's FA and draft, PJ.

There's a ranking from the year prior, which would include RG and TCraw's contract.

Remember, last year also included the Fredbeard extension.

He owns the team so it is very much his team :) He hired the people making the decisions so he gets credit for that as well.
