they need to figure out if Dallas is playing for anything and they may need to flex it

if Philly drops 2 and Dallas can beat Washington to win the division you can bet your bottom nickle itll be a primetime SNF game

if everythings wrapped up and Dallas is playing Jerry and the front office then itll be a regular sunday afternoon game

Basically, the League & Networks are keeping gametime starts for the season finales in flux due to what happens in the New Years Day games.
Week 18 games that involve one \ both teams having to win to getting a higher postseason berth, or just to get info the playoffs - will get a wider audience nationally, or a late Sunday / Sunday night slot.

Exhibit A: Eagles win Sunday = clinch NFC East; Commanders win while Seahawks, Lions, and Packers all lose - WAS will have secured one of the last two playoff spots.
Therefore, Cowboys @ Commanders season finale really has nothing at stake = regional broadcasted game with a start game 1 pm EST.

However....if PHL & WAS lose Sunday, DAL @ WAS has at stake the NFC East title for the Cowboys plus the Commanders having to win to get in the playoffs = a late Sunday afternoon game shown mostly around the country - or perhaps having a Sunday night lickoff January 9th.

NFL would be smart to play this before the Philly game ASSUMING they lose to the Saints.

No. The most obvious choice for SNF is Jax vs. Ten.

First time I can recall not knowing what day we’re going to play our last regular season game on.

Yeah, no way we play sunday night no matter what. If the eagles lose this weekend, both games will be at the same time. Imagine flexing the cowboy game and the eagles win earlier sunday.

First, there are no Saturday games for the final week of the season, so the tweet is completely uninformed.

Second, the Cowboys won't play in the SNF window, because their playoff fate will likely be known after this weekend (I expect the Eagles to win and clinch the division title). The only game that has standalone conditions for determining a playoff berth is the Jaguars-Titans game, so that will be the SNF game.

I would be surprised if this game is not played in the 1p EST window.

In Week 18, two games will be played on Saturday (4:30 PM ET and 8:15 PM ET) with the remainder to be played on Sunday afternoon (1:00 PM ET and 4:25 PM ET) as stated on nfl.com

Nah. They’ll be smarter to play them at the same time, which is exactly what will happen if the eagles lose this weekend.

Possible Bengals vs Ravens as well. More likely that game will be flexed if the results work out for that game to be for the division (Ravens win, or Bengals lose to bills)

Since this is a home game for the Team from Washington DC, the confusion and ineptitude makes all the sense in the world

I almost bought tickets to this game over a month ago. But I needed to know when it was being played. Now that the game is going to be meaningless, I wouldn't pay 10 bucks for the best seats.

Hope it's Saturday. Gives them at least a week for WC weekend if that game is Saturday.

I believe there is also a Monday night playoff game, and I wouldn’t put it past the NFL to place the Cowboys in that slot.
