You know, sitting here watching college ball, I'm curious, what do you think would happen if they made it a 15-yard penalty instead? I believe a lot of these interference calls are wrong, maybe 50 or 60%, and they often seem minor. Both players are probably creating some contact, yet officials almost always call it on the defense.
I don’t think that’s fair.
Do you think that in the NFL, if it were only a 15-yard penalty, defenders might commit more infractions knowing that stopping a big play would only cost them 15 yards? That could make the game uglier.
Personally, I’d prefer it to be just a 15-yard penalty.
so, that even if mistakes are made on the call, it doesn’t give a team a huge advantage, especially late in games or overtime. Watching some games today, I’ve seen ticky-tack calls that should never have been called on the defense, but if it’s only 15 yards, at least it’s not such a big deal.

would this lead NFL corners and safeties to hold more to prevent big plays, or would it simply make the game fairer? NFL referees aren’t always consistent, and while they tried changing the rule once, it didn’t stick. I still think they should adopt this kind of rule: instead of making it reviewable like before, just make it a 15-yard penalty.
