It is really hard to be a truly dominant team in the NFL right now. Sure, some teams are better than others, although mostly because there is a lot of bad football being playing out there (and really bad officiating). However, the fact of the matter is that the "elite teams" right now are not separated from the rest of the pack by as much as they used to be. Unfortunately, we bought the hype about our own greatness and failed to realize that in today's NFL the phrase "on any given Sunday" is actually true. The difference in the games often comes down to preparation, discipline, getting the calls go your way and in the end some luck. Yes, we should have beaten the Commanders this past week. We have more talent, we were playing at home; but the truth is the Commanders aren't that far enough below us that they can't whoop our butts when we come out flat, unmotivated and lack discipline.

Bottom line is that it is really hard to get a grip on this league right now. Look at the Eagles. They nearly beat us at home and everyone is talking about them as the 2nd best team in the NFC. They beat Pittsburgh and their defense looks like the 85 Bears, then the next week they lose to the Bears with Kyle Orton as QB and are now last in their division. Or look at the Steelers for that matter.

In any event, Wade has to do something to get this team prepared every week and to ignore the hype, get them to recognize that they need to bring their A game every week, even against the Bungles (who took the defending Super Bowl champions and 1st place Giants to overtime last week).

Out!:laugh2:

Right, forgot to mention: one or two key injuries and your toast.

Not to discredit the Bear's defense, but McNabb wasn't 100% either. Only other thing I will mention is that the regular season doesn't mean a lot either as long as you are winning most of your games. As long as you get into the playoffs, that's about all that matters. The Giants were a prime example last year of how a team with 6 regular season losses can still win the Super Bowl. As for the Cowboys, even if they lose 1 game every 3 wins, that makes for a 12-4 record, which is still an good record in the NFL regular season.

The Bears had their share of injuries too-Tommie Harris was out(their big disruptive DT), Charles Tillman and Brandon Lloyd went down in the game, etc. And the Iggs are pretty deep at RB too.

Plus you don't lose to teams like a KYLE ORTON Bears team.
