Mike O'Hara, of the Detroit News, reports local television affiliates were removed from the sidelines under a policy adopted Tuesday, March 28, by the NFL owners. They no longer will be allowed on the sidelines during games, which prevents them from shooting footage to show on news and highlight shows.

I wonder if Jones was behind this, trying to keep the media away from his stick of dynamite. You can try to protect him Jones, but someday a media idiot will bump into him at the store or even at his house and lite the fire. Unless your gunna sequester him, he will run into Randy Golloway one too many times before his time here is done.

Jones really may have painted Parcells into a corner with this if Parcells was truely not on board. Maybe now hes trying to keep the media as far away as possible, next Media pple wont be allowed in the lockerroom or the practive field. Icant wait for those PC's. Hell I might even skip work to listen to them if theres gunna be fireworks.

This makes no sense. Parcells looses no matter what he does. He treats TO like every other player people think he is not on board. If he talks about TO then he is speaking the party line. People are takin this way to far.

The only media they are keeping off the sidelines is the local media, not the National media. The NFL might of been having problems with local media members being to aggressive.

I can't believe you guys are trying to turn this into a TO issue. Not EVERYTHING is about Terrell Owens, despite what TO himself would tell you. This has more to do with protecting the exclusivity contracts the networks have signed, and trying to reduce the number of people clogging the sidelines.

i'm sure it's all jerry trying to keep t.o. out of the media. obviously jones alone made the nfl do this. it's a big conspiracy. never mind the fact one owner does'nt have the power to change nfl policy, and that the nfl has been cracking down on the number of people on the sidelines for along time. it's all jerry and all about t.o., and bill did'ny show up for the press conference

What part of it? NFL games are the property of the NFL and they can do whatever they want including keeping cameras away. Same way no one has a constitutional right to take pictures in your house.

I agree. The league allows the camera crews and reporters down on the field I think the league has a right to tell them where they can shoot their pictures from. How in the heck the constitution is being brought up about this issue is too funny.

What does the removal of local media from the sidelines have to do with the Constitution? Lemme check again. Nope, nowhere does it say anything about allowing press anywhere on the grounds to cover NFL games. In fact, the Constitution only prohibits the GOVERNMENT from restricting freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

It's no different than allowing local media into your home, if you don't want them there they can't be there. Or GM or General Electric not allowing media inside their doors to cover their day to day operations. When they want coverage they issue a press release.

Now if the NFL said to the media, "you can't say anything bad about the NFL, the game, its players, etc. etc." then you might be barking up the right tree. Until then, lets try not to play the poor victim suppressed by the evil fascist regime.

And remember they said sidelines.
Not the locker room after the game.
Not a roving reporter in the stands.
The NFL may be trying to maxamize the Network coverage.
Having the local stations come to them for game replay footage.

This leads up to the NFL Network - where thry control everything.
So they may have anyone who wants highlights - pay up.
Another revenue source.
