NFL looking into Bradshaw's situation...can you say suspension?

Ahmad Bradshaw is already spending 30 days in a Virginia jail for violating terms of his probation. It's that sorta thing that piques the interest of the NFL.

According to league spokesman Greg Aiello, Bradshaw's case is being reviewed to determine whether he is subject to discipline under the NFL's personal conduct policy. "Can't rule it out at this point," Aiello wrote in an email. So Bradshaw could be (stress COULD be) doing time on the sideline with a suspension after he's done with his time in Abingdon. According to just about everything we've learned in the last day regarding this sentencing, Bradshaw has done nothing illegal since being drafted by the Giants in April 2007. His lawyer issued a statement saying that the current incarceration stems from a juvenile offense in Bradshaw's hometown.

Aiello did say that the Giants will not be subject to fines in the matter.

This was for something he did in college I thought.

No?

Bradshaw stole a roommates Playstation game when he was in college. He was placed on probation. Somehow, he violated that probation and he got 30 days.

He may not have done anything illegal but it could be something as simple as not reporting to his probation officer. I am speculating here of course but it could be something simple like that.

That's what I thought.

He's learning a lesson. No need to rub his nose in it for something that minimal. (My apologies to the gamers that will probably offend.)

So he's actually done something since being in the league?

I thought the stealing of the PS game is what he did to break a juvenile probation. And he went to jail now because they just realized it.

I wonder if there's a statute of limitations on probation violations. If they didn't catch that he broke that juvenile probation until he was 60, would he still have to go to jail for 30 days?

it depends on what he did

you can violate probation any, number of ways, move and don't notify change in address, or he could have left the state of New York, hell, he could have forgotten to give them a pay-stub as proof of working lol

or

he could have committed another crime, which is probably why he'll be locked up for a month

none taken :)

i dont get why he would be suspended unless what he did to break his probation was something serious

it is hard to say what Goodall will do.....we all know he is setting a precedent WRT player conduct. A suspension would not be too far fetched.

I like the fact that Goodall is trying to De-Thug the league but he has gone over the top big time IMO.

Well, he went to jail.

Pacman was suspended for more than a year and NEVER went to jail. Heck, he was never convicted of anything, let alone going to jail.

FYI:

AHMAD BRADSHAW BEHIND BARS
Posted by Mike Florio on June 19, 2008, 2:38 p.m.
Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw, a 2007 rookie who came on strong during the team’s improbable playoff run, is behind bars due to an “undisclosed probation violation.”

As a freshman, Bradshaw was booted from the University of Virginia football program after being nabbed for underage drinking, running from cops, and ending up on the wrong end of a cloud of pepper spray.

At Marshall, he was placed on probation for two years after pleading guilty to stealing a Playstation 2 from an unlocked dorm room.

Bradshaw has been confined to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail since Saturday, June 15.

According to a Giants forum:

C'mon.

Listen and understand the process.

To those thinking he did NOTHING wrong recently, that's not true.

He VIOLATED probation. Now, that doesn't mean he commmitted a "crime, per se" -- and according to his lawyer he did "nothing illegal". But he did do something wrong. That's the violation.

The fact that he was on probation for something that happened in the past is....well....obvious, and beside the point. It's a deflection from whatever just occurred to cause the violation.

Really, no surprise the Bradshaw camp is glossing over the actual VIOLATION, and instead those who commented so far keep talking about what caused the probation in the past.

I get it -- something happened to Bradshaw in the past. What some also realize is that in order to violate the probation, something had to have happened fairly recently, too.

The correct question to ask, is what was the violation? What happened in order for the court to say "You violated probation, and now you're going to jail for 30 days."

Basically, you don't get thrown into the slammer for 30 days for doing nothing, even on a probation violation. Something small would likely get you a week, maybe 10 days.

Or this wasn't the first time he violated for something stupid and his PO is sending him a message
One missed appointment or something silimar doesn't violate you its to the discretion of the probation officer, This kinda feels like a guy that didn't take his probation as seriously as he should have.

Did we ever get any clarification if this is in VA or W.VA? If its VA, then yes you can get sent to the slammer for 30 days on a minor probation violation. W.VA is a little more reasonable.........

Any guy who can't spell CAT if they spot him the C and T is bound to get into trouble sometime.

Oh wait, wrong Bradshaw.
