The name stays the same, but the game changes.
Skills deteriorate with age; injuries hamper a player's speed, cutting ability and range of motion. NFL players battle a constant ebb and flow throughout their careers.

For Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin, hamstring injuries have led to more ebbs than flows the past few years.

We've noticed in preseason action, though, that Austin finally is moving better than he has since his breakout 2009 season. Coach Jason Garrett agrees.

If we could get him back to the form he was in 3 or so years ago our receivers will be impossible to defend.

I remember Aikman during a game saying he thought Austin might be the best in the league and at that time it would've been tough to argue.

If he has his speed and extra gear with that acceleration then he's dangerous and hard to cover. If Romo has time either Austin or Bryant should be open a lot. Either that or they'll get schzoid trying to decide which one to double.

I noticed last year that there were several balls that he just couldn't go get. If you have ever played, then you know that sometimes when the ball is overthrown you get a shot of adrenaline that allows you an xtra gear to go get it. It's also the gear that sometimes pulls your hamstrings. I would like to see Miles at his full potential for a full year, I think he would put up special numbers.

I agree. Just couldn't hit high gear last year or get out of his breaks like he can normally.

IF he's at 2009 level it's going to be pretty scary for defenses LOL

I think it was the 09 season when we had an decent offensive line. It didn't matter what we ran because if it was third and five or third and 13 they just seemed to run a play and pick up the first down. I would just like to see Romo with a good OL and a top defense for once in his career.

I'd love nothing more than to see Austin put a mile up in yardage this year

Plus Miles is gonna play more in the slot. Still has hands of stone sometimes though. Let's hope Terrance Williams can join in the party.

Anyone notice how fat miles looked in the thigh / glut area last year ? He looks lighter this year .
