Just imagine for a second: Carson Wentz - 2017 NFL MVP.
Sounds nice, right?
Yeah, yeah, we know it’s not likely. But hey, you can place a wager on it happening! Wentz appears on the latest list of 2017 NFL MVP odds, as seen at the bottom of this post.
Wentz appears at the very bottom of the list with 100/1 odds to win MVP. He’s tied with some familiar names, including former Eagles running backs LeSean McCoy and DeMarco Murray. Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller and the recently unretired Beast Mode AKA Marshawn Lynch are also listed at 100/1. Not exactly terrible company for Wentz — those are some accomplished NFL players.
It goes without saying Wentz doesn’t belong in serious MVP discussion at this stage in his career. The second-year quarterback had some encouraging moments as a rookie but he has a lot to prove still.
There’s reason to believe Wentz will improve upon his 2016 performance given his increased experience and an upgraded supporting system around him. I’d hold off on the NFL MVP bets though unless you’re really feeling lucky.
Tom Brady 4/1
Aaron Rodgers 7/1
Derek Carr 9/1
