Jags complete the long pass - they called a TO on the field ( their last) then the league reviews if it is a catch.

Jags change their mind and take their TO back?
They line up and after review its a catch and the clock starts late they lose 2 seconds and hike the ball

The Jags just got an extra timeout or an extra 10-15 seconds

The reason they called the TO was because too much time would come off the clock on the deep throw

The league needs to let it play out - wait until Jags line up and are about to hike the ball then stop play to review. That way the time comes off the clock.

If Jags called a timeout and said we change our minds there should an automatic 12 seconds run off the clock

I guess stopping the clock for a review is similar at stopping the clock to announce a penalty. The clock will wind once the ball is set in play by the refs. But yes, I agree with the OP. If they stop the clock, for a review under 2 minutes left, that should be a 10 second runoff at least.

or .. now hear me out ...or our idiot OC doesnt run low percentage fly routes on 3rd down when the Jags still have a timeout remaining

OR now hear me out, our idiot QB doesn't throw a 50/50 at best ball in that situation and just eats it if everything is covered. It's not unreasonable to think that a QB with 7 years of starting experience in the NFL and makes what ours make can make a simple decision.

A very similar thing happened in last night’s game. In that instance, the officials ran off 10 seconds “by rule.” I don’t remember them doing that in the Jags game.

Well, my daddy used to tell me when I was working with him and a friend of mine came over, “one boy, 1/2 a boy; two boys, no boy.”

If Kearse takes him down in bounds, Jags have to use last time out and possibly only have a play or two left.

What’s that got to do with what I’m talking about ? This isn’t just something that needs fixed for the Cowboys. This is something that just needs fixed

They didn’t and they didn’t even start the clock right away

If I am thinking of the right play, this is the one where Kearse and the TE were fighting from about the hash marks to the out of boards and the Ref ruled him in, which kept the clock running. Jags used a TO to stop the clock. They then reviewed the play and it was determined that the TE was actually out of bounds which would have stopped the clock and the TO was given back because if they ruled it right on the field, there would not be a need for a time out. So there was not anything really gained or lost in this specific situation. That's the only play i remember them getting a TO back, but maybe I missed the specific play you are referencing.

So if Dallas had won would this even be being discussed? No.
Actually, it might’ve been even then if the Jags kicker missed the field goal. Accidental success doesn’t validate the decision. It was a low probability option.

No that’s not the play. It was before that when they review the catch

The league will only address inconsistencies in the way games are called IF...

the event occurs during a playoff game
alters the outcome of said game
and Vegas loses big so the legalized gambling community get's involved.
Exactly. They’ll only change the rule if it negatively impacts profits.

When the Boys were up by double digits the game should have been over, but no they let Jacksonville hang around and got BEAT! One play doesn't make a game........................

Going off of memory but I don’t remember Jax calling a timeout after the catch and why would they. When that catch happened, it was over 40 seconds left.

I thought that after the catch, they hurried to the line and then the review happened when they were about set to run their play and that probably explain why there wasn’t a 10 second runoff.

Maybe if Kearse tackles the guy instead of being dragged half away across the dam field this would not be an issue right now.

Or better yet, how about our $40 million dollar QB does not chuck a bomb out of bounds on 3rd down when your opponent still has one timeout left.

Just saying.
