NFL, No Respect For The Players That Made The Game

I never read that he was warned. I read that he was fined, twice.

And again, we will agree to disagree because we are different. If the league is looking for words that he put on his eye black, and those words are clearly his father's nick names, who played in the league... than I have a problem with the depth in which they will go to fine over what they consider a "violation".

No, you missed my point. The NFL has a dress code that you are made well aware that you will give fined if you deviate from it. He deviated knowing full well that he would get fined for doing so. His complaint about it has no merit. He knew the rules and the outcome for breaking them. He did so twice and got fined twice.

No I didn't miss the point.

So he was warned, yet you kept saying he wasn't. :p

I did not say that.

at some point it becomes obvious that internet folks want to be professional arguers.
I said what I said.... so analyze my post for the rest of the day if you want.
because I'm done.

Aw man, you're all testie today. :(

Guess I never paid that much attention to something like those patches being a uniform code violation.

Jim McMahon was fined by Pete Rozelle for wearing a head band that had a logo of a company not affiliated with the NFL.

Now that you mention it I do remember that. Didn't McMahon later wear a headband with Rozelle's name on it?

He did indeed.

Edit:
I think that incident is what turned an already strict policy into a zero tolerance policy.

Interesting.

Not sure why the NFL so nit picky over writing on eye black. Could understand the Jersey, helmet or anything added to the pants/sleeves, but that is weak.

I know the rules are rules, but just seems like a silly thing to fine a guy over. Especially since he wasn't marketing a product either.

The NFL can't pick and choose what they will let a player have written on his face/uniform. and Ironhead "made" the NFL?

insanely stupid handling by the NFL.
they are just stupid in general and especially so when it comes to rules.
they might try to hire people who actually think.

but it has nothing to do with former players.
and all do respect to ironhead heyward, but the NFL was already great when he played... all the way back to his rookie season in 1988....
the guy retired in 1998.

every league is focused more on today's players than past ones because outside NFL films it is their job to sell this generation.

When did the eye black thing take place? I'm assuming right when Tebow got into the league so he couldn't do John 3:16?
