Vikings head coach Brad Childress has indicated his desire to develop a quarterback.
"We want to develop a guy," Childress said. "I think it behooves you to have...a guy that you're serious about to bring along within the system."
Bowling Green's Omar Jacobs and Clemson's Charlie Whitehurst are possibilities.

Profootballtalk.com reports the Titans will take Texas QB Vince Young with the No. 3 pick in this weekend's draft. If true, it appears Titans owner Bud Adams will get his wish and Matt Leinart may have to brace himself for a draft-day slide, possibly all the way to the Ravens at No. 13.

The Lions are seeking to land Ohio State LB AJ Hawk in the first round.
The Lions currently pick ninth and may not have a chance at Hawk or Texas DB Michael Huff, their top two targets in this weekend's draft.
Detroit is expected to consider a trade down if both players have already been taken at No. 9.

The Packers are seeking multiple draft picks in exchange for injured WR Javon Walker. It appears the Broncos won't be able to ship disgruntled wide receiver Ashley Lelie without adding a few more picks to the pot. Denver is expected to look at wide receivers Santonio Holmes and Chad Jackson at No. 15.

LB DeMarcus Ware has set a goal of 15 sacks next season. "I have been working all off-season," Ware said. Expect the Cowboys to take more chances on defense with an improved offensive attack.

Texas DB Michael Huff considers himself a safety.
"I think it's kind of a new breed of safety with myself, (
Troy) Polamalu (of the Steelers) and Ed Reed of the Ravens," he said. "Safeties...have to cover and blitz and do it all. That's what I like to do." Some scouts view Huff as a cornerback at the next level. Apr. 26 - 10:41 am et

The Jets are eyeing Alabama QB Brodie Croyle and Oregon QB Kellen Clemens. If the team isn't able to snag a quarterback in the first round, they'll likely look at both second-tier quarters in the second and third.

The Jets have reportedly had discussions with Baltimore about the No. 13 pick. A league insider says the Ravens would entertain a draft-day trade if Oregon DT Haloti Ngata is not available when they're due to choose. A proposed deal would send New York's No. 29 and No. 35 picks to Baltimore if Vanderbilt QB Jay Cutler is still on the board. The Jets are considered likely to pass on QBs Matt Leinart and Vince Young at No. 4.

The Bengals are considering a switch to the 3-4 defense.
Coach Marvin Lewis indicated Tuesday it's a definite option and the Bengals would then be more likely to draft a pass-rushing defensive end in such a scenario. Lewis did say he'll wait until after the draft to make the move official.

T Willie Anderson says he doesn't expect to sign a new contract with the Bengals. The ten-year vet and three-time Pro Bowler enters the final year of his deal in 2006. Anderson feels that because of his age he won't be re-signed.

The Bills are in the market for a big left tackle.
6-4 Mike Gandy manned the position last season but
Buffalo's offensive line as a unit was disappointing. 6-8 Syracuse T Marcus McNeill and Miami of Florida's 6-7 tackle Eric Winston are second-round possibilities.

Melvin Fowler is currently atop the Bills depth chart at the center position. The free agent acquisition is expected to face competition from second-year man Duke Prestion for the starting job.

The Ravens held visits with USC TE Dominique Byrd and Georgia G Max Jean-Gilles. Baltimore is considering holding off on top-flight offensive linemen until later in the draft and Jean-Gilles is a projected first or early second-round pick. The Ravens have Todd Heap and Daniel Wilcox at the tight end position.

The Ravens have been intrigued with Florida State LB Ernie Sims. Sims met with the club and the Baltimore front office has raved about the smallish linebacker. If he were available at No. 13 the team would likely give him a long look.

If Winston Justice is available for the Ravens at pick No. 13, they're not likely to take him. Word is Justice will be taken between the eighth and fourteenth picks. The Ravens are expected to wait until later in the draft to upgrade their o-line.

Liz Mullen of SportsBusiness Journal reports there is sworn testimony that indicates Reggie Bush had an agreement with "New Era Sports and Entertaininment." Profootballtalk.com breaks down the report more clearly than we could hope to and we suggest clicking over to them. In short, there is mounting evidence that Bush had an agreement with the prospective agent who "leased" his family their house. USC could be in hot water because they should have known he was ineligible.

I'd have heart palpatations. I want to see the D register 50+ sacks on the year and generate some turnovers.

now wouldn't that be sweet...

There probably should have been a conversation like this:

Demarcus: Hey Julius, I want to get 15 sacks this year, I think I'll tell the media.
Julius: Uh, yeah....don't.

I agree.

Goals are great, but there's no need to tell everyone. Just write 'em down like Emmitt Smith did and let Sports Illustrated publish them after you've accomplished them.

This will be our SECOND Year in the 3-4 Defense, look at the success SD had in their 2nd year...No reason to believe that Dallas will not follow suit!!!

I'm really hoping this holds true. SD showed big improvement in the 2nd year of 3-4. My only concern is that we didn't play half bad, and our room for improvement may not be that great. I'm hoping they cut loose more on the QB and just let the LBers and Roy go for broke. Improve our sack numbers and I'll be happy.

c'mon, give the kid a break, he's just exuberant following a solid rookie campaign and expects to do much more his 2nd year :)

'Bout time, ain't it? Sh'Yeah!

I had not thought about it, but since we are much improved on offense.....bet our defense will be taking more risks.....I cannot wait!

You know, I thought I read somewhere else that Ware had set a goal of 12 sacks......guess it doesn't matter, but I remember the number being 12.
