Workers comp was one of the two issues, the other HGH, that players and owners could not resolve in '11 CBA. Since, owners have won a ....
...series of legal and political victories on the worker comp issue. Clearly NFLPA sees that happening again in La., and wants to stop it

Jerry jones, in response to a question on if NFLPA needed to approve expanded playoffs, responded, "not to my knowledge."

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 4m
Asked #Cowboys owner Jerry Jones if union needs to sign off on playoff expansion: “Not to my knowledge.” See @AlbertBreer’s feed for context

Building off the report from @TomPelissero, I'm told the union is prepared to try and stop playoff expansion over the workers comp issue.
The NFL hasn't presented the union with any proposal on playoff expansion. Absent a resolution on workers comp, those could be non-starters.
Saw Jerry Jones said in Atlanta that he doesn't think the NFLPA has to sign off on playoff expansion. I can tell you the union disagrees.
The union's view on this is that added playoff games would constitute a change in working conditions, and thus must go thru them.

Jerry Jones is here at Atlanta owners meetings and says he thinks there is wide support for playoff expansion. Too early to predict a vote

Expansion is going to happen. 7 teams per conf. Only the top seed gets a first round bye. So 14 of the 32 teams make the playoffs.

The expansion will be approved because Goodell has the power!!!

He really doesn't but the blame must stay fresh.

Hopefully if they do a playoff expansion it will have standards like minimum of 10 wins or 9-7 with a top 10 defense or offense and not just let teams in for the sake of pandering to the casual fan.

More playoff games would be great. Hidebound tradition is the only argument against them and what it does is stop 10-6 teams from missing the playoffs.

yeah sure why even have the regular season in your point of view. Why not let everyone into the playoffs. That is so much simpler.

They don't let everyone into the playoffs. They have a full three rounds. And of course there is seeding and home field advantage.

If a 6-10 team gets in and starts winning you really going to complain of how unfair it is that they got in?

Lets just let everyone in and tell the players, "as long as you tried your best" Its all you need now a days.

Some of you guys are overreacting. It's only 1 more team per conference. Which last year would have been the Cardinals and Steelers. 2 teams that very well did deserve to make the playoffs. How is that letting everyone in and making things washed up? Yet in 08 the Patriots got fleeced when they misses the playoffs at 11-5 or in '10 when the 7-9 seahawks got to make the playoffs because their division was dog crap (btw the same division that holds the almighty unbeatable 49ers and seahawks) Talk about a knee jerk reaction. #Logic

So we're punishing the 2nd-best teams in each conference (since they won't get a bye anymore) and rewarding the 7th-best teams in each conference. AWFUL.

Not really. I read the same thing each time the playoffs got extended throughout history. It's only this or it's only that. Yeah for this time but what about next time? Or the time after that? Or the time after that? Next thing you know there are 12 teams in the playoffs. Next time 14 teams. Next time 16 teams then 18 teams. At some point you have to say enough is enough and we are at that point. Take a historical view of the situation and you will see it's not any kind of overreaction at all.

Lets this over with once and for all. Everybody gets in but the last place teams in each division.

Winners get a bye:p:p:p
