Some of you may remember that late last August, I posted that I'd checked Ryan Moats into my hotel, shortly after he'd been cut by the Iggles... I can tell you that even in what had to be a hard and frustrating time for him, he was very friendly, very polite... he was tickled that I recognized his name...

His wife was a slender, nicely dressed, very pretty lady, who was as pleasant as he was... so you can believe that I find it easy to believe that the cop was a jerk... I haven't watched the video, don't even really want to, but the spokesman for the police department said that both of the Moats did nothing wrong... this does not surprise me...

It also saddens me that she lost her mother that young...

I remember that story SB....

Theres no way he gets his job back....hopefully.

Karma is a *****. This officer will get his at some point.

Yeah, he will, and he'll have to live with the stigma from that for the rest of his life. It's also no surprise that the officer is only 25 years old.

What a power hungry ***. He could have at least let him go in and see her and THEN given him a ticket.

What impressed me was how Moats carried himself.............

Notice, he never used his pro-athlete/NFL player/famous name to hedge his position. He acted like a gentleman, even though he was in extreme crisis and trauma.

Most, if not all NFL players would pull their rank and status and come off with something like "do you know who I am???" He never did that. I never read anything about him until after this event. I've read and heard that he's a really humble, centered and nice guy.

Finally, notice that he had his emergency flashers on when he went through the red light. I would've ran that light too if I were in that position, but he had the presence of mind to at least use his flashers. THAT ALONE would've given me pause if I were that cop. If I saw that amount of restraint and level head in that situation, I would've used my authority to ESCORT him through traffic and too the hospital room.

How many guys with a wife about to give birth have ran red lights and sped a little to get to a hospital? And how many police escorts have they gotten once the cop knew the situation? I'd bet the answer is close to 100% of the time.

what is the protocol for something like that? A couple of weeks ago, my wife got a call that her brother was dying and we had to rush to the hospital. I put on my flashers, ran multiple red lights, stop signs and sped to get there. I passed a couple of sheriff cars along the way and was not bothered. I was not careless, I stopped at the red lights before proceeding thru just like Moats. The officer in this case was heard to say that Moats could not do that because he was not in an emergency vehicle. I always heard that if the flashers are on other cars are to respond to you the way they do to emergency vehicles.

I know in other instances, that I tell my daughter if she is ever driving at night and blue and red lights come up behind her to not stop but put her emergeny lights on and go a big publie lighted place that is open with people around. This guy would have shot her for that.

The guy even with his recent apologies has no business being a police officer. I had the pleasure and experience of riding with these guys a few times and I have the ultimate respect for their job. This guy was a total jerk. He should be fired.
