NFL Outsider had an interesting slant to power rankings. They took each team's weakest link (ex. RBs, Oline, etc) and ranked the league according to that. It won't translate to the actual ranking but it's a worth a look...and I know there will be some debate on our Cowboys.
Anyway, here's what NFL Outsider came up with, as to rank the teams 32-to-1 by determining each team's weakest link.
32. Jacksonville Jaguars: Wide Receiver (worst? poor Garrard..lol)
31. Kansas City Chiefs: Pass Rush
30. Oakland Raiders: Wide Receivers (I think they are the worst)
29. St. Louis Rams: Wide Receiver
28. Denver Broncos: Defensive Back Seven
27. Detroit Lions: Defensive Line
26. Seattle Seahawks: Running Back
25. Buffalo Bills: Offensive Tackle
24. Cincinnati Bengals: Interior Offensive Line
23. Chicago Bears: Wide Receiver
22. Green Bay Packers: Offensive Line
21. Houston Texans: Secondary
20. Cleveland Browns: Inside Linebacker
19. Atlanta Falcons: Secondary
18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Wide Receiver
17. Minnesota Vikings: Pass Protection
16. New York Giants: Wide Receiver
15. Washington Commanders: Offensive Line
14. New York Jets: Wide Receiver
13. Pittsburgh Steelers: Interior Offensive Line
12. Miami Dolphins: Secondary
11. San Francisco 49ers: Secondary
10. Dallas Cowboys: Offensive Tackles (hmm...interesting....)
The comments...
Flozell Adams and Marc Columbo are two starting quality tackles in the NFL, but neither should be starting on the great offense the Cowboys believe they have, and the first backup is a mid round rookie draft pick from the power house that is the Ball St. Cardinals, Robert Brewster. Not among the weakest links in the league, but still pretty bad for a playoff contender. OT is simply a position that the Cowboys have gone too long without addressing.
9. Tennessee Titans: Quarterback
8. Arizona Cardinals: Run Blocking
7. Carolina Panthers: Quarterback
6. Indianapolis Colts: Offensive Tackles
5. Philadelphia Eagles: Secondary
4. New Orleans Saints: Pass Rush
3. San Diego Chargers: Defensive Line
2. Baltimore Ravens: Running Back
1. New England Patriots: Pass Rush
