NFL QB Index, Week 8: Patrick Mahomes vaults back to No. 1; Kirk Cousins closing in on top five

That's a self fulfilling prophecy since the minute we win people automatically reclassify the game as "not big." Even the playoff wins are considered "not big." Why? Because we won and Dak played well that's why. It's absolute insanity. Frankly Dak outplayed Jared Goff in '18 but could not overcome the defense being overrun for 270 yards.. and he was better than Jimmy G in '21 but again.. was terrible tackling the 49ers' backs so he was the main reason for that loss. If people want to pin the '22 playoff loss on him I won't fight them on it but he simply has not performed poorly in all those playoff games.. He was lights out against Green Bay and Tampa.. and pretty good against Seattle and the Rams.. He has struggled against the San Fran defense the last two plus seasons.. making him part of a very large fraternity of QBs who struggle against it. Yes he needs to figure it out but he clearly is going to need his coach to help him do that. The Niner DC has had our offense figured out now three straight times. At some point we gotta change that.

The mark of a truly top OC is figuring out what his players can do well and what they cannot do well.
THEN scheme to make use of their strengths.

If you can't have Patrick mahomes....Dak is the very very next best thing. And in fact...he's pretty dang close to mahomes.

The last 7 years have been all we could ask for. May the next 7 be the exact same!

You would be correct if all of those INTs against the 49ers were Dak's fault. Video breakdowns by several ex-NFL QBs have proven half of those INTs were not on Dak.

While I will disagree that he has been "the biggest weakness" against that defense he HAS been a weakness which absolutely has to change.

A QBR of 75 is a NFL caliber QB 50 is average Dak’s a 61/62 let’s all celebrate a little above average QB.

I don't need Janikowski to try to convince me that Maher kicked good against the 49ers. Just like I don't need Marc Buldger to convince me that Dak played good against the 49ers. It's so comical to me that if someone calls out Dak for playing bad you strictly Dak fans get so defensive. I guarantee you I hope for Dak to play good way more then you do. GUARANTEE it, because that probably means our chances of winning sky rocket. I'm just not blind when it comes to his abilities. It's so odd to me. No sane fan will care one iota about this nonsense. We all know Dak is a good QB who will have an occasional stinker game. Which makes him must like every other player who has ever lived. But I agree he needs to swing the pendulum back closer to last year's level of aggressiveness but stop short of taking TOO many chances. It's a tightrope to be sure but he's making a ton o money to walk it. So git er done!

I can’t stand rankings personal or from the media or anywhere in any shape or form ,

it’s ridiculous how much is that his college football with the top 25 being decided before one game is even played.


In my Opinion no matter what you try to do the Prescott is top 10 quarterback in this league I don’t care what they try to do with numbers and rankings and blah blah blah.

Sure I’ve seen him play even top-five been part of annumber one offenses, never been part of a losing season, ninth all time in touchdown interception ratio, into the playoffs four out of the six seasons he was healthy. Top 5 in wins etc most of the narratives that people parrot around the Internet are actually false about Prescott

in my opinion you can’t take that away from him no matter how hard the fans giant haters got their claws out there looking for dumb rankings.
