We all know that in every sport, there are great rivalries. For example in baseball you got the Yankees vs Boston, in College bball you got Duke vs Carolina, in the NBA you got the Lakers vs Celtics and in college football you got Ohio State vs Michigan. So my question is, in the NFL, which teams have the best rivalries in todays game?

Colts and Pats is easily #1, tho it's cooled off quite a bit.

We're starting to develop quite a rivalry with the Giants. As is Indy with SD, Pitt vs B-More, the Eagles vs winning the NFCC, etc.

The Cowboys v Commanders was once the pinnacle of rivalries. Still today, the Cowboys v any other NFCE opponent is still a huge draw even for fans that don't support either team.

Bears and Packers I think are the longest rivalry in the NFL, but I dont consider it to be a heated rival.

Mainly because both teams suck and even when one of them has a good year, the other one still sucks. Very few times I remember the Bears and Packers both being very good in the same season.

Cowobys and Commanders is another historic rivalry, but again, both teams failed to even make the playoffs.

Colts and Pats is probably the most heated since they usually meet in the playoffs each year.

i guess that in the NFL every team in every division has a rivalry, some more than others. The NFCE and AFCE teams all hate eachother, and the AFC North teams hate eachother as well.

First, few rivalries are any good when the teams themselves aren't. Pats/Colts is a very johnny-come-lately rivalry that will go away as soon as either team fades a bit further.

I have to go with Cowboys/Commanders. I mean even the mascots have historic rivalries - who didn't play Cowboys vs. Indians as a kid? It's almost always good, even when the teams aren't.

Cowboys/Commanders is still my favorite of all time.

Spurs/Mavs has been really good the past 4-5 years it seems.

I once read a line of thinking about "rivalries" that I agree with 100%......

With the advent of salary caps, free agency, and other "parity" measures, one of the aspects of the game that has been most effected is the demise of once-great rivalries.

Rivalries (Raiders-Chiefs, Cowboys-Skins, Packers-Vikings/Bears, Niners-Rams, Steelers-Raiders, etc.............) only matter when both teams are very good and actually playing for something that counts.

Used to be, a fan or not of either team, that a Steeler-Raider game was a BIG DEAL. Same thing with the Cowboys vs. Commanders for 20 years. The nation would stop everything to watch a game like that.

Now, with teams going from 3-13 one year, 11-5 the next, then back to 4-12 the following year, it's hard to get exited over a Packer-Viking match up like the old days. The AFC is on life-support with the Pats-Colts deal, but that's about it.

If the Bronco's were playing the Raiders in October back in the day, I would watch it from whistle-to-whistle. Now? C'mon..............how many of you would actually sit and watch and entire game in September between the Niners and the Rams? Honestly???

When franchise's were good and playoff caliber, over a looooong period of time, THAT was the bigger part of ANY historic rivalry. If your a fan of any one team, rivalries still count to YOU. Any Eagle, Giant or Commander game is a big deal to a Cowboy fan. Even a Niner game.

A big part of the great rivalries of our time was the QUALITY of Great teams sustained over long periods of time. Those days are long gone, as are any meaningful "rivalries", and thats a dog-gone shame IMO!!!
