Tony Romo is on pace to return after the Cowboys' Week 7 bye.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on NFL GameDay Morning that Romo will ramp up his rehab this week with increased conditioning and throwing. Thursday marks the six-week point after Romo injured his back.

Dallas targeted Week 8 for its veteran quarterback to return to the lineup, which gives Romo another four weeks of rehab.

Owner Jerry Jones and coach Jason Garrett have continually said it's Romo's job when healthy, despite the play of rookie Dak Prescott.

"The Cowboys have said everything properly publicly, that it is Tony Romo's job, but they have left it a little more open when they talk privately," Rapoport said.

We've gone from one of the worst QB situations in the league to one of the best. Hope we do that with the defense next year.

As far as the Romo/Prescott debate - if Dak beats the 49ers, Bengals and Packers even I would have a hard time taking him out and you know how I feel about Romo.

Ramp up conditioning? Romo does conditioning work? When? I don't think Romo has done true conditioning drills in years.

He's had a trainer for years now. Also and especially the daily core and flexibility regimen that he had to go on to manage the lower back stuff.
Maybe it doesn't look that way....

Ill believe Romo does conditioning drills when i see it with my own eyes in the flesh. Romo wouldn't last 90 seconds doing conditioning drills. Romo might do some cardio, but no real conditioning work at all in years.

So all the players and coaches and trainers on the Cowboys are liars then.
Got it.

A person who does real conditioning work has little to no body fat. Maybe are ideas of what conditioning work is differ drastically.

lol....ok
I'm not here to defend how Romo looks in his drawers. I'm not even here to defend his workout regimen...though he does play a ton of full court basketball--which I think gets him past 90 seconds.

But body building and pro football are very different.

"next to zero is almost non-existent anyway...unless you mean 5-8% is next to zero. That's the average pro body builder's fat level.
The average very fit NFL players--so the DBs and WRs--still have body fat of 9-12%.
The other position players are higher, of course.
What is optimum in the NFL is not the same for pin-up boys.

And btw, very few experts would say near zero body fat is at all healthy.

Again, I'm not defending Romo's or Brady's body, though I don't really care either way if a player can do their job.

I'll assume that maybe your a body-builder. I have no idea really....but we have few in this forum. They tend to get the most worried about how Romo looks in his uniform.

Lol, when did he play full court basketball and vs who? You were defending his workout regimen when you.

Romo hasn't done any real consistent conditioning work in a long time, i don't care who says what or how, it obvious, drawers or any other way you want to put it. Maybe the next reader will believe it though. Gluck.

You don't think Romo plays hoops?
I'm starting to think you don't know a lot about him.
The workout regimen has been talked about for 2-3 years now, so that would've been hard to miss.

Yes, I was defending that he exercises...because I know it to be fact.

What I wasn't defending was how looks in a uniform--which I could care less about.

Look, This has digressed. I think I know the situation a little better than most. I'm not going to basically be called dishonest by someone who is just drawing assumptions based on appearances.

If you think the guy never exercises or never even plays basketball (which he's outstanding at) for that matter. Feel free to do so.
The guy is a VERY good athlete.
Unless someone post picks with a date stamp, you're obviously not going to believe it. Nothing I can do about that.
I'll just say that my family knows his in laws fairly well. I think I have some insight besides the 20+ newspaper articles that have mentioned this stuff.

I'm as big of a Romo homer as there is. But if Dak and the rest of the Cowboys beat the niners, bengals and the pack in Green Bay, if would be a hard sell to replace Dak. Especially if they win in Green Bay, when I saw that game on the schedule I was thinking that would be a loss regardless of our health.

Oh well since your family knows his in laws that makes believe everything you typed, thanks for that extra information.
